We have a mouthwatering contest this Saturday as the two best teams in Europe, by quite some distance, go head to head, live on Youtube. Over the weekend, Barcelona secured their 30th league win from 30 games, an astonishing 100% record after beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 on Saturday. Lyon, on the other hand, only have a 97% win rate in the French League this season, having won 29 of their 30 games, drawing with St Etienne in March.

Champions League run

Barcelona

It’s hard to believe, but Barcelona have actually lost a game this season. Their 45 game winning run was ended by Wolfsburg in the second leg of their semi final. Having won all six games in the group, and beating Real Madrid twice in the quarter finals, they went on to thump Wolfsburg 5-1 in the first leg before losing the second leg 2-0.

Lyon

Lyon have shown a vulnerable side in the Champions League, having lost a group game away to Bayern Munich, followed by a first leg defeat away to Juventus in the quarter final. PSG are their main rivals in France, who got the better of them in the French Cup final in January. However, Lyon revised their tactics when they met them in the Champions League semi final, beating them in both games to set up this mouthwatering final against Barcelona.

Key Players

Barcelona

Their midfield three of Alexia Putellas, Patri Guijarro and Aitana Bonmati is what makes them tick, but Putellas is the star with 32 goals in all competitions this season. They are spoiled for choice up front, with Nigerian player Asisat Oshoala bagging the Golden Boot in La Liga this season, although she may not even start the final with the ever reliable Jennifer Hermoso expected to lead the line, who has 153 goals across 132 league games in her career.

Lyon

Ada Hegerberg and Melvine Malard are the two forwards to look out for (Hegerberg is a former Ballon D’Or winner), but the star this season has been 22 year old American midfielder Catarina Macario, who has managed 21 goals this season, including eight in the Champions League. She can play centre midfield or left of a front three, but she should cause Barcelona problems this weekend regardless of what position she starts in.

Odds

It’s no surprise that Barcelona are heavy favourites to defend their Champions League triumph of last season. After a near perfect season, they are 4/11 to win the game in 90 minutes, and 1/5 to lift the cup (at the time of writing). Lyon are 9/2 to win in 90 minutes, and 3/1 to lift the cup.

How to Watch

Youtube have full exclusive rights to the Champions League tournament, so there will be a live stream available from 6pm on Saturday evening.
