For Tuesday night’s football the vast majority of us will be watching how proceedings go at St Mary’s when Southampton take on Liverpool as the Reds can keep their slim chances of landing a Premier League title alight should they come away with all three points.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

In the Championship Promotion Playoffs, Nottingham Forest entertain Sheffield United with a 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg where the winner will face Huddersfield in the final. We’ve also found some value in Egypt where league leaders Zamalek can extend their lead at the top of the table at home to El Gaish.

7.45pm: Southampton v Liverpool – Liverpool Win & Over 2.5 Goals

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Liverpool can move within a point of Manchester City going into the final day of the Premier League season should they emerge victorious against the Saints. The hosts are in pretty bad shape at the moment, winning just one of their last five in the league, drawing one and losing three. At St Mary’s things are even worse where they’ve won just one of their five previous fixtures, losing all four of the others. Over those five games they scored four and conceded an eye-watering 14 times.

Liverpool have won three and drawn two (winning one on penalties) of their last five fixtures while in the league have won four and drawn one and share the same record over their last five on their league outings. The hosts beat Liverpool 1-0 here last season but their form suggests they’ve only onto a hiding here with the Reds still hopeful of Man City choking, a la Real Madrid, in their final league game against Aston Villa this coming weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have a very good record of clean sheets on the road this season – nine from 18 – but the hosts have only failed to score in three of their 18 home league games this season so it wouldn’t be surprising at all should they get one here. Liverpool to Win and Over 2.5 Goals is where the value is at for this one.

7.45pm: Nottingham Forest v Sheff United – Forest to Win

TV: Sky Sports Football

Forest were one of the form sides as the Championship came to a close this season and had Premier League promotion within their grasp until they threw it away in a 1-0 away loss to Bournemouth who ended up finishing second.

They’ve got a second bite at the cherry though and were 1-2 winners away to the Blades last Saturday in the first leg of their Playoff semi final. On home soil, Forest have won nine of their last 10 Championship games, drawing the other one, winning five in-a-row of their five most recent games played at the City Ground, scoring 16 and conceding just two.

Sheffield United have won three of their last five league games, drawing and losing one apiece. Their away form isn’t great though, winning just one of their last five, drawing two and losing two, scoring five and conceding seven.

The Blades’ lack of prowess in front of goal is going to be their Achilles heel here and against a Forest defence who have only conceded in four of their last 10 at home the value here lies with backing the hosts to win.

8pm: Zamalek v El Gaish – Zamalek to Win

Not a league we cover very often here in our articles but Zamalek have been a very dependable team for many who like to stick a banker in their Accas over the last few seasons. The Cairo side have been excellent so far this season, winning 13 of their 18 league games, drawing two and losing three while at home have won five, drawn two and lost two, scoring 17 and conceding 12. Of their last five home league encounters they’ve won three, drawn one and lost one.

El Gaish are a decent outfit, winning two and drawing three of their last five league games and are a tough side to beat on the road too, drawing four of their last five, losing the other one. They aren’t Zamalek’s traditional Cairo rivals, that would be Al Ahly, but the underdogs will still be eager to put some hurt on their city rivals.

Saying that they’ve won twice here over recent seasons, both however were cup games and of their five most previous league visits they lost all five and only scored one goal over those five clashes. With the hosts in flying form and the visitors scoring just one over their last five away Premier League games we’re siding with the home side to Win here.
