The final game of the midweek round of fixtures comes from Turf Moor as Burnley host Southampton in their first home game since Sean Dyche’s sacking. It looked as though that decision may have had the desired affect on Sunday with Burnley leading for large periods of their clash with West Ham until Tomas Soucek’s equaliser piled more pressure on the Clarets.
Southampton knocked over Arsenal on Saturday and will looking to kick on from that win and secure what would be an impressive top-half finish.
It’s tough one to call, this, so we’ve given Thommo a ring and asked him to pick the bones out of a potentially pivotal scrap in the battle against relegation. This is his best bets for Burney v Southampton on Thursday.
What are Burnley doing!? I’ve always admired them, they’ve always punched above their weight and they’ve realised that but why they’ve got rid of Sean Dyche is beyond me.
If you’re looking for a manager to get you out of trouble Sean Dyche would be one of them and if you do go down he’s the best manager to bring you back up.
In normal circumstances a draw at West Ham would be great, but draws are no good for them at this stage. That will have really damaged them. They had a great win against Everton and then they go and get beaten at Norwich which has not done them well.
Southampton got their first win in seven against Arsenal which was a huge result for them, recovering very well from a 6-0 drubbing against Chelsea.
This game is going to be tight, there’s never going to be lots of goals in this one.
If Burnley are to have any chance of surviving and dragging Everton back in then they have to win this game. I’m going for a single goal victory for Burnley and Maxwel Cornet to score that goal.

There’ll be a lot of frailties about the team.
