We’ve got another round of Championship fixtures to get our teeth stuck into on Monday. Plenty of the 3pm games are real 50-50’s and could go either way so our plan is to look into a Both Teams to Score acca instead. We’ve studied the numbers and the form and our five-fold is below.
First up in our Championship BTTS acca is Barnsley v Peterborough, which sees the bottom two face off at Oakwell Stadium. Both sides have struggled to keep out goals this season, with the pair conceding 143 goals between them. BTTS has landed in four of Barnsley’s last five home games, while Peterborough are on for four away games in a row where both teams have bagged. The stats suggest there could be goals in this one so BTTS it is!
Next up is playoff-chasing Blackburn, who host Michael O’Neill’s Stoke. Blackburn know they need a win to close the gap on the playoff pack so they’ll have to push on and take risks. Stoke have been hit and miss all season but BTTS is a banker when they’re on the road. It’s landed in their last nine away Championship games so let’s hope it’s ten on Monday.
Reading v Swansea sees two in-form sides face off on Monday afternoon. Swansea are unbeaten in their last six, winning four and drawing two. Reading, meanwhile, have lost just once in their last six league games and they’re desperate for a win to close the gap on Birmingham in their relegation battle. Reading have bagged in six of their last seven home games, with Swansea winning their last three road games, scoring eight times in the process. BTTS will do us.
Blackpool v Birmingham is next up, with Blues in desperate need of a win to extend their lead above Reading and the other three sides in the relegation zone. Blackpool have netted in nine of their last ten Championship games and they’ve got a solid home record this season. As for Birmingham, BTTS has landed in seven of their last nine games on their travels. We’re hoping the form holds up and both sides net.
Finally, we’re in west London for QPR v Derby. It looks like Wayne Rooney’s Derby will be in League One next season but they’ve been a joy to watch this campaign and genuinely made people believe they could stay up. QPR’s home form was solid until last month but they’ve lost their last three league games at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. As for Derby, they’re poor on their travels, losing their last eight games. BTTS has landed in five of QPR’s last six games and Derby will be all out as they hope to pull off a miracle. Expect an open game and BTTS!
