Monday night’s live football comes from the top of the Championship, with a tasty clash between Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion. Whilst Forest sit in the play off places, West Brom still have an outside chance of sneaking there way in, but will have to be on top form as they visit the City Ground under the lights.

Monday 18 April 8pm: Forest v West Brom
TV: Sky Sports Football

Forest to win

Away from home, West Brom are like chalk and cheese. Of their 60 points in the league this season, 40 have come at home – the third best in the league – whilst just 20 have come on the road, which places them 19th in the away table. With the Baggies winning just five times in the league away from the Hawthorns, and Forest on the back of five consecutive home wins in the Championship, the stats are very much in favour of a home win.

Not the greatest value at a shade over evens, but a Forest win kicks the builder off nicely.

Brennan Johnson to score or assist

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has had a standout season for Steve Cooper’s side. Top scoring with 14 league goals, he’s also weighed in with seven assists. In fact, in Forest’s last five games, he’s been involved in six goals. Not only has Johnson been one of the best young players in the Championship this season, he’s been in good form recently, and backing him for a goal involvement is a sound shout, especially against a West Brom side who have conceded well over a goal a game on the road this year.

Jayson Molumby to be shown a card

The Baggies’ battling midfielder has managed to accrue 10 cards this season, at a rate of one every 140 minutes. He’s played 27 games, with 14 starts, and on Friday’s win over Blackpool, he managed to play the full ninety minutes without getting into the referees book. Add to this that referee David Webb dishes out around 3.5 yellow cards a game this season, and you can see why Molumby could be in trouble. Don’t be surprised to see a crunching tackle from the Ireland international on some of the silky attacking talent of Forest be rewarded with a yellow card.

Forest to win by exactly 2 goals

Only twice at home have Forest not scored two goals or more, so this side have goals in them. They’ve also won by a two goal margin at home in four of their last five home games, collecting 2-0 victories against Birmingham, Coventry, and Bristol City, whilst beating QPR 3-1. West Brom, on the other hand, have lost by a two goal margin in six of their last eight losses, most recently with a 3-1 defeat to Stoke, and the other five ended in 2-0 defeats.

If the past is a predictor of the future, a two goal margin of victory is good shout. There would also be a temptation to back a 2-0 exact result if you wanted to extend your odds further, which is at 17/2 compared to the (still very good) return on the widget below you get from this shout.
