There’s only one game on everyone’s lips this weekend, and that’s Manchester City v Liverpool. Forget about the Grand National – the Etihad plays host to the biggest sporting match-up this weekend, as the two horses in this season’s Premier League title race turn for home.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Liverpool have piled the pressure back onto City after clawing back a 14-point deficit from January. Now it’s just a singular point. It’s Man City v Liverpool, its Guardiola v Klopp, its possibly the title decider, aaand its liiive! Here’s our trader Brian McDonnell’s take on the game…

Sunday, 16:30 – Manchester City v Liverpool

TV: Sky Sports Main Event

BRIAN: It could be a title decider, but I think the home team, Manchester City, are too short. So I’m gonna go with an away win, and Liverpool to win this one. I saw their performance midweek against Benfica, their front-line already was the best in the league before Luis Diaz came in. He could be one of the signings of the season if Liverpool do go on to win the title, I think he’s at the same level as Sadio Mane and Mo Salah already.

They’ve so much depth in their forward line now, which they probably haven’t had in the past couple of seasons. They’re in the same mode now as they were when the won the league two years ago, they just look irresistible. I think there might be more of a desire to win the league than Manchester City, I think if you ask any Man City fan – “what would they rather win, the league or the Champions League?” They’d probably go for the Champions League, because they haven’t won that. Although I do think Liverpool are gonna end up winning the Champions League as well!

I watched City midweek against Atletico as well, and some of the line-ups that Pep goes with are strange – he kept probably their best player of the season, Phil Foden, on the bench, and takes him off the bench, and he comes up with a great assist after just a few minutes, so you don’t know how Man City are gonna line up for this one. I think they’re slightly a bit more inconsistent than Liverpool at the moment, so at the prices, I’m definitely going to go with Liverpool to get the win and take back top spot in the Premier League.

There definitely will be goals, I don’t think Liverpool have not scored in the league so far this season. I think Liverpool will go with Salah and Diaz on the wings, with Diogo Jota the focal point. So I’m gonna go with Jota to get the first goal, he’s a huge price at the moment as well. I think that’s a great bet for a man that, when he does play, is very clinical, and does score when he gets picked.
