Tottenham’s European hopes were dealt a massive boost last weekend after Manchester United were held by Leicester and Arsenal were thumped at Crystal Palace. Champions League qualification is now in their own hands, with a crucial home game against the Gunners on the horizon.

They also boast one of the easiest run-ins on paper of any side chasing Champions League qualification and can bolster their chances by beating an out-of-form Aston Villa side here. The Midlands side have struggled badly for consistency of late, losing each of their last three games after previously winning three on the bounce.
Steven Gerrard’s side have won just four of 12 league games in 2022, winning just one of their last six games at Villa Park. Tottenham, on the other hand, appear to have corrected their own inconsistencies which had dogged their Champions League bid.
Antonio Conte’s side have taken 15 points from their last six games after losing four of their previous five games. They are now in the driving seat for European qualification and should cement their place in fourth with a win at Villa Park. They just better not over-celebrate an important win in the race for fourth or they’ll have an irate Ashley Young to face.
Tottenham’s form may have improved significantly in recent weeks, but they are still somewhat unconvincing at the back. Spurs have conceded five goals in their last five league outings and have conceded 10 goals in their previous seven away games.
However, Spurs have also scored an eye-catching 21 goals in their last six games and will almost certainly score again at Villa Park on Saturday. Villa have scored an impressive 11 goals in their last six games, failing to find the back of the net on just one occasion in that spell.
They will cause problems for the Spurs defence on Saturday evening.
Harry Kane struggled for league performances during the first half of the season, but the English forward has been exceptional over the past month. His man-of-the-match display in the 3-2 win at Manchester City in late February appears to have been the catalyst, when he scored twice and ripped City apart with incisive through balls.
Since then, Kane has scored five and assisted four in seven league appearances and seems capable of splitting just about any defence apart with an eye-of-the-needle through ball. He boasts the joint-most assists in the league for Tottenham this season and also plays 1.3 key passes per game, the third-highest average in the Spurs squad.
He is good value to register his fifth assist in eight league games on Saturday.
Dejan Kulusevski has been a revelation since signing for Tottenham on loan from Juventus in January. The Swedish striker has scored two and assisted five in eight league starts, averaging 1.9 shots and 1.9 key passes per game.
Both of Kulusevski’s Premier League goals have come away from home, with the Swedish striker scoring in wins over City and Leeds.
He has added a new element to the Spurs attack since arriving and can notch a third league goal at Villa Park.
