Paddy power ambassador Phil Thompson never needs rest and rotation and he’s back once again to help guide us through the midweek Champions League action. Paddy football trader Emmet O’Keeffe joins Thommo to take a look at Chelsea v Real Madrid.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

The big man also runs the rule over Villarreal v Bayern Munich in the night’s other huge match. So, let’s get into Thommo and Emmet’s views on Wednesday’s action in the big league at 8pm.

Chelsea v Real Madrid

TV: BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate

THOMMO: What happened to Chelsea at the weekend? They’ve done well since all the news hit about Roman Abramovich. Thomas Tuchel has done well because he’s used that siege mentality for Chelsea and they’ve had some fantastic results, kept hanging in there.

But you look at Real Madrid in La Liga, they’re sitting on the top 12 points clear. Why didn’t they make more changes last weekend? They did win 2-1 away at Celta Vigo but you’re going, ‘I can’t believe they didn’t make changes.’

It is an ageing side with Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, you’d think they’d give them a rest but they didn’t they all played. Even Gareth Bale was sub.

I do think Chelsea will come out on top in this. I don’t think there’s going to be a lot in it but it’s Chelsea to Win for me. I fancy Both Teams to Score in this. Chelsea just to come out 2-1 winners. I’ll go for Romelu Lukaku, who didn’t start against Brentford, I’ve got Lukaku to Score Anytime.

EMMET: I think Chelsea will win this. I’ll forgive them their collapse at the weekend. Overall I think La Liga’s far inferior to the Premier League.

I’d put Real qualifying against Paris St-Germain in the last round far more down to PSG’s mental frailties because I think Real were actually outplayed for the vast majority of the tie.

If you take out the Brentford game for Chelsea, in previous weeks I think they’re the better side. They were clearly superior to Real in the Champions League semi-final last year and I expect them to edge the game.

I’d say 1-0 to Chelsea. Picking who’s going to start these days for Chelsea is tricky but I would go along with Phil. If Lukaku starts he’s the likely scorer so Lukaku to Score First as Chelsea Win.

Villarreal v Bayern Munich

TV: BT Sport 3

THOMMO: Villarreal scuppered all bets at Juventus a few weeks ago because they won not just 1-0 but 3-0 for goodness sake! They’re sitting there 7th in La Liga and they’ve lost nine times this season and they’ve lost their last two league games. You can only see a Bayern Munich win.

I’m not going to go by too many because they will try and save themselves, Bayern Munich. They’re top of the Bundesliga by nine points from Borussia Dortmund. They won 4-1 at the weekend and had 10 shots on target away at Freiburg.

The front four of Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski – wow what a front four that is! So, I’m going to go for Bayern Munich to Win to Nil. Who should we have out of that front four? I’m not going to go for Lewandowski, I’m going to go for Thomas Muller to Score Anytime.
