Tuesday 8pm: Man City v Atletico Madrid

BT Sport 2

THOMMO: Atletico Madrid will be hoping to frustrate Man City at the Etihad. They’ll chuck plenty of men behind the ball and shut up shop. They’ll be happy with a draw as they’re the biggest spoilers in European football.

However, this City team always find a way. With or without a striker, they always put teams away. They dominated against Burnley in the Premier League last weekend in terms of possession and shots – and it will likely be the same on Tuesday.

Atletico won in La Liga on the weekend and they’ll make it hard for City, however, I expect Pep Guardiola’s men to get the job done.

I like Man City to Win to Nil and Raheem Sterling to Score Anytime. Atletico won’t cause City many problems and the Premier League leaders are always a threat going forward.

Sterling had a great game at the weekend and he’s found form recently so I’ll back him to bag. If I had to pick a scoreline I’d go with City to Win 2-0 as I don’t see there being a load of goals in this one.

EMMET: I’m on the same page as Phil. The way Atletico set up is ideal for Man City. City showed they can easily play against that style at Burnley last weekend and I’m expecting the same at the Etihad.

You have to try and attack City as well as hitting them on the counter-attack when you have the opportunity. Atletico won’t do that so I’m siding with a City win.

I like Man City to Win to Nil and I really fancy Pep Guardiola’s men to put a few past Atletico.

In terms of a goalscorer, I’m keen on Riyad Mahrez to Score Anytime. Mahrez generally has a lot of shots when he plays so that gives us a chance.

Tuesday 8pm: Benfica v Liverpool

BT Sport 3

THOMMO: I can remember going to Benfica many years ago and Liverpool winning 5-1! Liverpool don’t have a great record there but this Reds team is something else. Their form is incredible. You have to give Benfica respect but it’s hard to say Liverpool won’t turn up.

Benfica lost in the league at the weekend and I’m not sure their mentality is there this season. They’re nine points off top. Liverpool have won their last 10 Premier League games and they’re flying. However, we don’t know who Jurgen Klopp will pick as his front three.

I’m backing Liverpool to Win to Nil in Portugal. The Reds front three will be coming up against former Premier League defenders Jan Vertonghen and Nicolas Otamendi.

If I had to pick a score, I’d go 2-0 to Liverpool. I also like Sadio Mane to Score Anytime. He started on the bench against Watford last weekend and he’ll be rested.
