West Ham welcome Everton to the London Stadium on Sunday for a game which could have huge ramifications on the two sides’ very opposing aspirations.

The hosts, though going through a shaky patch, are still in the hunt for a European place and will be eager to keep pace with Manchester Utd, Spurs and Arsenal above them with a win here.

Everton, meanwhile, are just a place and three points above the drop zone and a defeat would spell even more danger for their Premier League status.

It’s a tough one to call, this, so who better to turn to than Phil Thompson for a rundown of his best bets for the clash. Let’s get into Thommo’s top tips for West Ham v Everton.

14:00 Sunday – West Ham v Everton

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

This one’s the David Moyes derby, and it’s a huge one!

I like West Ham but they’ve not been in great form, slipping down the Premier League. You’re looking at them against Everton who have got their lowest points at this stage of a season since 2003/04 and they finished that season with 39 points so they’re in a really perilous position.

They’ve lost 16 of 27 games in the league, they’ve got the worst away record in the league and they’ve taken just six points from 13 games. It’s really worrying for them!

A little shade of hope for Evertonians is that they’re unbeaten in their last three visits to West Ham, so all is not lost.

I do think West Ham will come out on top in this even though they’ve not been in great form. They’ve won just three of their last nine and they’ve lost two of their last three in the Premier League so it’s not great.

But, get this, West Ham and Liverpool are the only sides to score in every home league game this season so you have to take them to score a goal. So, I’m going for Both Teams To Score in this as Everton have got to push forward.

As for the goalscorer, I’m going for Michail Antonio to score. He’s not been hitting the back of the net of late but I fancy him to come up trumps in this one.

I think it’ll be tight because of the relatively low confidence of both of them so I’m going for West Ham to win this 2-1.
