Liverpool return from the international break to face a truly hellish fixture list in April.

The Reds face two games against Manchester City, two Champions League quarter-finals against Benfica, and home fixtures against rivals Everton and Manchester United over the course of the next month, so they need to take advantage of this home game against one of the weakest sides in the league.

Watford snatched a hugely important three points at Southampton before the international break, keeping their survival bid alive as the season enters the business end.

However, the chances of them closing the gap on 17th-placed Everton on Saturday afternoon are extremely remote.

Liverpool to Win by Four Goals or More

Liverpool have won nine league games on the bounce over the past two-and-a-half months in a highly productive spell that has seen them win the League Cup as well as qualifying for both the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals. Watford, on the other hand, have two of their last 17 league games in a disastrous run of form stretching back to mid-November.

They have taken just nine points in that spell and it is easy to see why they find themselves three points adrift of Everton despite playing two games more. Liverpool strolled to a 5-0 win at Vicarage Road earlier in the season and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a similar scoreline on Saturday, especially considering Liverpool boast the best goalscoring record in the league while Watford boast the third-worst defensive record.

Both Teams to Score? No

Liverpool have rediscovered their defensive stability since a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in early January. Since then, Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded just two goals in nine games. They have conceded just one league goal at Anfield since mid-December and even that came courtesy of a wicked deflection against Norwich.

Watford, who boast a decidedly average goalscoring record of one goal per game, have little chance of breaching the Liverpool defence on Saturday. They have failed to score on 12 separate occasions this season and all signs point to that statistic becoming 13 by 3 o’clock on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp

Diogo Jota to Score First

Diogo Jota scored Liverpool’s last goal before the international break, breaking Nottingham Forest’s resilience to help book Liverpool’s place in the last four of the FA Cup. He also scored a brilliant header for Portugal against Turkey in their play-off semi-final, while it was his goal that broke the deadlock at the Emirates in Liverpool’s most recent Premier League game.

The Portuguese forward is in a rich vein of form and is in a good place to start Saturday’s game considering Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Luis Diaz all featured in high-intensity World Cup qualifiers in Africa and South America on Tuesday. Eight of Jota’s 13 league goals this season have come as Liverpool’s first and it would be unsurprising to see him open the scoring for the Reds once again on Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Robertson Anytime Assist

With Trent Alexander-Arnold certain to miss out on Saturday, the bulk of Liverpool’s creative responsibility will fall on the shoulders of his opposite full-back. Andy Robertson has enjoyed a stellar season for Liverpool after an initial slow start.

The Scottish left-back has registered 10 assists in 22 league appearances and 12 assists in 33 games in all competitions. He averages more than two key passes per game and more than one cross per game and his creativity could help unlock what will be a defensive Watford outfit.
