It wouldn’t be a normal week without a punter taking us to the cleaners and that happened again on Friday as one lucky bettor managed to turn a €3 acca into an impressive €3,899 after their stunning 18-fold footie acca landed.
Our winner – who hails from Killarney – went all in on the Over/Under Goals market in a variety of leagues and the bet came in at huge odds of 1,299/1.
All the games had started and were in-play when the winning bet was placed on Friday night. Let’s tell you how it landed.
Our punter was on the hunt for goals on Friday after backing Overs in different markets with Paddy Power.
Over 0.5 Goals was backed twice, Over 1.5 Goals was on the betslip eight times, Over 2.5 Goals cropped up five times and there was one Over 3.5 Goals and two Over 4.5 Goals.
A lot of the action was taking place in the US of A, from the MLS to the USL Championship. There were also games in Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador.
Our punter from Killarney clearly fancied himself as an Americas football expert on Friday night.
With all of our bettor’s Over 0.5, Over 1.5 and Over 2.5 Goals selections landed, that left three remaining games.
First up was Chicago Fire v Kansas City in the MLS. Our punter needed Over 3.5 Goals and they would have been sweating with the scoreline at 2-1 after 81 minutes.
However, Kacper Przybylko fired home his second goal of the game with just under 10 minutes remaining to tick another leg off the betslip that was as long as your arm.
Now our punter needed Over 4.5 Goals in Camboriu v Marcilio in the Catarinense playoffs in Brazil. He was also waiting on five goals in LDU v Aucas in the Ecuadorian Serie A.
Half time came in Camboriu v Marcilio with the scoreline at 2-0 to the home side, with our bettor probably fearing he would fall at the final hurdle. However, three goals in the second half, with the last coming in the 76th minute, saw the game finish 3-2 and tick off the 17th leg of the bet.
17 down, one to go.
I’m sure you already knew but LDU v Aucas in the Ecuadorian Serie A saw second host ninth, with many expecting a comfortable home win.
However, Aucas came in at half time with a 2-1 lead, meaning our punter was two goals away from winning almost €4,000.
20 second-half minutes had passed and it wasn’t looking good for our Killarney bettor. Then, out of nowhere, Aucas netted two quickfire goals in the 65th and 67th minute to land the bet!
Our punter has Aucas midfielder Ronald Elian Briones Legarda to thank for his winnings.
The game went on to finish 4-4 so we can only imagine our bettor was kicking himself that he didn’t back Over 7.5 Goals to boost his winnings…
That scoreline meant our lucky punter scooped the €3,899 prize pot. So, all we can do is welcome yet another lucky winner to our Punting Hall Of Fame!
