Everton’s recent form is worthy of relegation, it’s hard to imagine this set of players being relegated but stranger things have happened in the Premier League. Bringing in Frank Lampard hasn’t had the desired effect, indeed the former Chelsea legend has managed eight games and has seen his side winning just three times, two of which were against lower tier teams in the FA Cup. However, under his tenure the hosts have scored nine goals over his five Goodison Park games, conceding three, so we’re expecting them to get one the scoresheet at least once here.
Newcastle took a while to click under Eddie Howe when he took over the reins from Steve Bruce in early November. In particular over their last 10 games they’ve been very good, winning six of their last 10 in all competitions, drawing two and losing two. Away from home they’ve been strong since the turn of the year, winning three, drawing one and losing one, scoring in four of those five games so we certainly expect them to get at least one here against an Everton side who have conceded nine over their last five fixtures in all competitions.

Over their last five games on home soil, Everton have been averaging 2.8 cards per game and averaged two over their last five home and away league clashes. Newcastle have received nine cards over their last five league fixtures while on their away jaunts have been averaging 2.0 cards per match.
With those cards’ stats we have to look at that market and seeing Over 4.5 cards offers some very good value indeed.

Newcastle to Win
Looking at games played at both grounds, Newcastle clearly have held the upper hand over their last five meetings. Toon have won all three of their most recent fixtures against the Toffees, drawing the prior one and lost to Everton in the earliest of those five. At Goodison Park, Everton have won two, two have ended level and Newcastle won one of the five most previous clashes between the sides.
Newcastle’s recent form though compared to Everton is head and shoulders better. As mentioned above they’ve only lost two of their last 10 games while Everton over the same period have won just three. Their home league form has seen them losing four of their last five as well and with Newcastle winning three of their last five on the road in the Premier League we have to go with the value here for Newcastle to take the three points on offer.

Corner stats for both sides are pretty average. Everton are averaging 5.08 corners per home league games with Newcastle averaging 4.71 on their away league games.
