Premier League leaders Manchester City host Portugeuse Champions Sporting Lisbon at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night. City won the first leg 5-0 in Lisbon, and Thommo sees the second leg going a similar way.
Wednesday 9 March, 8:00pm: Manchester City v Sporting Lisbon, BT Sport 2
THOMMO: It was 5-0 to Man City in the first leg, so they might make a lot of changes.
As much as it may have looked like City cruised it in the Manchester derby, there would have been a lot of mental energy used up in that match
The second half performance was just absolutely superb. Everybody’s looking at United and how poor they were, but I think City were fantastic.
Sporting are sitting second in the Primeira Liga, six points adrift of Porto. They lost 2-1 to Porto in the semi-final of the Cup last week, which was a damaging loss for them. They did then get back to winning ways at the weekend with a 2-0 home win against Arouca.
But look, City’s second team should be enough for this so I’m going for 4-0 to City.
Do check the team sheets before you put the bets on, particularly for goal scorers, because I think there will be changes.
I fancy Raheem Sterling to get on the scoresheet – he is a good bet builder there.
