Liverpool -1

Liverpool have now won 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions, only failing to beat Chelsea in the League Cup final in a game that they eventually won on penalties anyway.

It is the exactly the type of form that Jurgen Klopp will have hoped for as Liverpool enter the business end of the season still in the hunt for all major trophies.

Their form contrasts starkly with Inter Milan, whose 5-0 win over basement club Salernitana at the weekend was their first victory in their last six games in all competitions.

That win might bolster their chances in the Serie A title race, but it will be of little help to them at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Liverpool take a two-goal cushion into Tuesday night’s second leg after prevailing in a hugely entertaining first leg at the San Siro three weeks ago.

It’s hard to see Inter avoiding defeat on Tuesday night let alone overturning that two-goal deficit, and Liverpool should book their place in the last eight with relative comfort.

Both Teams to Score? No

Liverpool’s upturn in form has coincided with a newfound defensive stability.

Klopp’s side have kept six clean sheets in their last eight games in all competitions, a record that contrasts sharply with a damaging six-game run over the Christmas period that saw them fail to keep a single clean sheet.

They have kept clean sheets in each of their last two home Champions League games and face a side that has found goals hard to come by in recent weeks.

Inter had failed to score in four consecutive games prior to that 5-0 hammering of Salernitana and will struggle to breach a resolute Liverpool defence.

Mohamed Salah to Score First

Mohamed Salah’s goalscoring form has slowed down somewhat since the first half of the season when he seemed to score or assist in every game, but he remains by far Liverpool’s most dangerous player.

Salah has scored 27 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions this season, including four goals in six appearances since his return from the African Cup of Nations in February.

He has scored eight goals in seven appearances in the Champions League this season, making him the third highest goalscorer in the competition this season behind Sebastien Haller and Robert Lewandowski.

Salah has scored in all three games against Inter and AC Milan this season and is good value the scoring on Tuesday evening to send Liverpool on their way to the quarterfinals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Anytime Assist

Trent Alexander-Arnold set a new season best for assists when he teed up Sadio Mane in Saturday’s 1-0 win against West Ham.

The English fullback has now registered 16 assists in all competitions this season, at least four more than any other Liverpool player.

Alexander-Arnold averages more than two crosses per game this season and 2.8 key passes per game.

He has registered five assists in his last ten appearances and is by far the most likely player to register an assist on Tuesday night.
