Saturday night’s European football action has us checking out the three teams currently leading the Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1 title races. Real Madrid host relegation-threatened Alaves after a narrow defeat at the hands of PSG midweek who themselves face Nantes. Starting us off though we have AC Milan travelling to bottom-of-the-league Salernitana. Let’s dig into the stats and find some value bets.

19:45 Salernitana vs AC Milan: Milan to Win to Nil

TV: BT Sport 1

With second-place Inter playing on Sunday at home to Sassuolo, Milan, with an extra game in hand, can use this opportunity playing away to Serie A’s worst team to put some light between themselves and their city rivals. With no midweek European action, the Rossoneri will be fresh and other than a question mark over the fitness of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, manager Stefano Pioli has pretty much a full squad to choose from.

The visiting side are in good form, having won three of their last five, drawing one and losing one while they’ve only lost one of their last 10 away games. Of their last five on their travels, they’ve won four and drawn one, scoring 13 and conceding four.

Salernitana have been this season’s whipping boys, winning just one of their 11 home Serie A games, drawing two and losing eight. They’ve scored a paltry seven goals at home and of their last five they have lost four and drawn one, scoring in just one of those games. With the home side in such bad shape and Milan scoring for fun of late we have to go with the value odds here of Milan to Win to Nil

20:00 Nantes vs PSG: PSG to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

TV: BT Sport 3

PSG faced a tough test midweek against Real Madrid but their patience paid off and they’ll take a 1-0 lead into the second leg thanks to a late bit of magic from Kylian Mbappe. Nantes though are in robust shape having won four of their last five fixtures in all competitions, losing the other one.

Their home Ligue 1 form is quite good too with three wins, one draw and one loss having scored eight and conceded five. While that form is good they have a less-than-favourable record at home to the Parisians, having won just one of their last five encounters against them at the Stade de la Beaujoire, losing all four of the others.

PSG are absolutely flying, they’ve won four of their last five in all competitions, losing the other, while their Ligue 1 form has seen them go 15 games without defeat. On their league excursions, they’re undefeated over their last seven but of their last five have won just two, drawing the other three.

The visitors have scored a total of 13 in their last five in the league and Nantes have decent scoring stats themselves, as mentioned above. We should see a few goals here with those stats and we think there’s some decent value to be had in backing the visitors to win and Over 2.5 goals.

20:00 Real Madrid vs Alaves: Real Madrid to Win to Nil

TV: La Liga TV

Second-place Sevilla have had plenty of opportunities to cut the distance on Real over the past few weeks but successive draws have kept them chasing. Real, though, keep leaving the carrot out for them and refuse to take their chances to put some distance between them. That’s a pretty roundabout way of saying that Real’s form isn’t great over recent weeks. Against PSG midweek they almost pulled off the 0-0 they played for but we know how that ended.

Their overall La Liga form has seen them winning two, drawing two and losing one while on home turf they’ve won three and drawn two, scoring nine and conceding three. Alaves are playing for their skins now and four points separate them from safety. The away side have won two of their last five in the league, losing the other three while they have now gone seven games without a win on the road. They have lost all five of their most recent away games, scoring four and conceding an eye-watering 16.

The visitors won here last season but over their last six visits have only scored in that one game. Real have won all of the others to nil and with the away side in such horrid form and Real scoring plenty on home turf we’re again looking at a Win to Nil bet.
