With no Premier League action to sink our teeth into, our 3 Monday night tips come in the form of a Championship clash between West Brom & Blackburn.
Both sides are seeking a return to winning ways as Steve Bruce takes the West Brom reins for only the second time and Tony Mowbray returns to his old stomping ground.
These are our three good value tips including a punt on Andy Carroll to open his West Brom account.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS
Monday 8pm kick-off: West Brom v Blackburn
Sky Sports Football
Correct score: 1-1
Both sides come into this fixture looking to halt poor runs of form. New West Brom manager Steve Bruce brings experience to the Hawthorns but his time as boss got off to a losing start with a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United last time out. The Baggies have lost their last three in succession in the league and have dropped out of the play-off places.
While the table looks a little rosier for third-placed Blackburn, they’re also on a run of three games without a victory in the league and have won only one of their last five, losing ground on the automatic promotion places.
Both teams are lacking confidence in front of goal, too. West Brom are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table and have lost four of their last five league games without scoring while Blackburn have found the net only once in their last five league outings.
A point could be a decent result for both teams given their form and we can’t see many goals flying in in this one.
A low scoring draw could be the way to go – we’re going for 1-1.

Andy Carroll To Score Anytime
Neither team have exactly got strikers in a rich vein of form. West Brom’s top scorer Karlan Grant is having a productive season, reaching double figures for league goals, but he’s only netted once in his last eight in the league while the goals have also dried up somewhat for Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz.
The Chile international will be looking to add to his impressive 20-goal haul but is in the midst of his longest goal drought of the season having failed to score in his last five appearances.
A punt on Andy Carroll to grab his West Brom goal could be worth a shout. He hasn’t scored in his first two appearances for the club but he did register in his final game for previous club Reading. His physical presence up top will suit Steve Bruce’s style of play and the big number nine could be key in this game.
We’re going with Andy Carroll to score anytime.
Over 5.5 cards? Yes
Evening games tend to stir a bit more of a feisty atmosphere and given the sides’ track records, we’re predicting some cards in this one.
On paper, these have been the two most ill-disciplined sides in the Championship this season with Blackburn bottom of the fair play table and West Brom just above them in second-bottom.
Blackburn have received the most yellow cards in the league while West Brom have had a man sent off on six occasions, more than any other team.
Both sides saw red in their last matches and the managers will be looking to make it to the final whistle with all of their 11 players on the pitch.
We’re backing there to be over 5.5 cards in this one.
