Sunday night looks like it’s going to be an exciting night of continental football. We have a mouth-watering Barcelona derby with both teams hitting decent goal-scoring figures of late. In the Serie A, Atalanta face Juventus; a match that both could really do with winning to stay within contention of the other Top 3 clubs. Kicking us off here though we have Metz hosting Marseille in France’s Ligue Un.

19:45 – Metz vs Marseille: Marseille to Win & Over 1.5 Goals

Metz are third from bottom with 15 games to go, on just 20 points from their 23 games. Luckily for them only six points separate bottom-placed St Etienne and Clermont in 15th so a few good results would see them getting out of a relegation dogfight. Their form suggests otherwise though; they’ve won just one of their last five in the league, drawing two and losing two. Their home form is a little worse with just one win, one draw and three losses where they scored eight and conceded 11.

Marseille have won two, drawn one (winning it on penalties) and lost two over their last five in all competitions. The Phocaeans are in stronger league form where they’ve won three, drawn one and lost one over their five most recent fixtures while on their league excursions have won four and lost one, scoring seven and conceding just two, keeping four clean sheets over those five games. While that run of clean sheets is impressive it must be said that over their five most recent games they’ve only kept one. Metz could cause a problem here with their scoring record but Marseille have the superior form and goal-scoring stats that should see them coming out on top. Marseille to Win and Over 1.5 Goals is our first value pick.

19:45 – Atalanta vs Juventus: Dusan Vlahovic to Score Anytime

Atalanta currently occupy fifth place in the league on 43 points, Juventus are one place above them on 45 points but the home side have a game in hand over the Old Lady. La Dea aren’t in great shape coming into this clash, they’ve won just one of their last five fixtures, drawing two and losing two. Their home Serie A form has seen them winning two, drawing one and losing two. As you’d expect with Atalanta matches, Over 2.5 goals was witnessed in four of those five games.

Juve have won four and drawn one of their last five in all competitions. Their Serie A form has seen them going 10 games without defeat and on their league outings are unbeaten over their last six away games, winning four and drawing two. Their new signing Dusan Vlahovic looks like the perfect addition to the squad. Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United the Old Lady have struggled to score regularly.

As good as Alvaro Morato and Paulo Dybala are, they’re better at stretching defences and setting up goals than regularly scoring them; Vlahovic solves this problem. The 22 year old Serbian international scored 38 goals over 58 appearances for Fiortenia over the last season and a half and has one from his two Juve appearances so far. It must be mentioned too that he has a thing for Atalanta, having scored four in six appearances against the hosts. He already has 18 Serie A goals from 22 appearances this season and we’re getting some fantastic odds here for a striker in such incredible form.

20:00 – Espanyol vs Barcelona: Barcelona Over 2.5 Cards

You have to go all the way back to 2007 to find when Espanyol last beat Barcelona on home soil and that’s hardly going to change here. The hosts however, have been in pretty decent goal-scoring form, chalking up six over their last five in all competitions and they’ve won three of their last five home La Liga games, losing the other two, scoring a very healthy nine goals but also conceding nine.

Barcelona’s form isn’t trustworthy as of yet, they’ve shown glimpses of potential since Xavi took the reins as manager but their recent form has seen them winning two and drawing three, losing two of those in Extra Time. Their La Liga form has seen them winning three and drawing two while on their travels they’ve won two and drawn three as well.

We’re going to be looking at a cards bet here. Barca have been a bit naughty this season and are averaging 5.55 cards per away La Liga game this season. Over their last five away league games they have received a total of 15 cards. Of course this is a derby match, one that’s being billed as the closest contest in quite a few seasons and over their last four visits across the city have received at least three bookings in three of those games. We’re taking the value odds here then on Barcelona Over 2.5 Cards.
