Leicester have endured a difficult return from the winter break, first going down to a humiliating FA Cup defeat against local rivals Nottingham Forest before losing 2-0 at Liverpool in a brave but ultimately convincing loss. Brendan Rodgers’ side are yet to win in the league in 2022, which is a little misleading considering they have only played three times due to Covid-19 postponements.

However, the nature of their performances is of real concern. They conspired to turn a 2-1 victory into a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham in stoppage time and also conceded a late equaliser against Brighton shortly afterwards. On both occasions, they presented their opponent with a plethora of chances and were fortunate not to concede more.

West Ham, on the other hand, have not exactly been convincing since returning from the winter break, scoring in additional time to avoid a hugely embarrassing FA Cup exit at Kidderminster before scoring in additional time of extra time to avoid a potentially embarrassing penalty shootout. On Tuesday, they relied on a late-ish Jarrod Bowen winner to beat a struggling Watford at home in a forgettable encounter.

West Ham to win

However, those results helped to erase the memories of two damaging defeats that West Ham suffered against Leeds and Manchester United before the winter break, while Bowen’s goal propelled them back into the top four. The Hammers have won their last three league games against Leicester, scoring 10 goals and conceding just three. They can make that four in a row on Sunday and compound a difficult start to 2022 for Brendan Rodgers with a West Ham Win.

Jarrod Bowen to score anytime

Bowen’s goal gave West Ham a much-needed three points against Watford on Tuesday and the former Hull player is fast emerging as the Hammers’ most important player as the race for Europe approaches its run-in. Bowen has scored five goals in his last five games in all competitions, including the late extra time winner against Kidderminster to help West Ham avoid a hugely embarrassing cup exit.

He has scored 11 goals for West Ham this season, already surpassing his previous season-best with the Hammers. He is their top scorer in all competitions and scored in both games against Leicester last season, making him one of West Ham’s main goal threats on Sunday afternoon. Bowen to Score Anytime is your best bet in the goal scorer markets.

Under 2.5 cards

Sunday sees a clash between the two best disciplined sides in the Premier League this season. Leicester currently top the league’s disciplinary table with 26 yellow cards and one red card in 21 games, with that red card ironically coming against West Ham in August.

West Ham, meanwhile, are in second with 26 yellow cards and two red cards via second bookable offences in 24 league games. West Ham have picked up just eight yellow cards in their last six games, while Leicester have only received five in the same period.

Rodgers’ side have received just one yellow card in their last four league outings and none in their last two. It would be surprising if these two sides accumulated three cards or more on Sunday so I’m on Under 2.5 Cards.

Under 10.5 corners

Neither West Ham nor Leicester win a huge number of corners. West Ham have won 29 corners in their last six Premier League games at a rate of just under five per game, while Leicester have won 22 in the same period at an average of just under four per game.

West Ham have conceded 27 corners in their last six games, while Leicester have conceded a more eye-raising 52 in that period, but 33 of those corners came against Liverpool and Manchester City. Both sides in ability to land a significant number of shots on target perhaps explains their relatively low corner counts over the past six games.

West Ham have registered 25 shots on target in six games, while Leicester have registered 24. The Hammers have averaged three corners per game in their last six away league games and unlikely to drastically better that average on Sunday given their tendency to adopt a more pragmatic approach when playing away from home with Under 10.5 Corners.
