Thomas Frank demands Premier League trophy following first half United performance

Party time at Brentford - they probably, on the balance of play, deserved to be one up at half-time v Man United

Following Brentford’s 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United, Thomas Frank has demanded the Premier League trophy is awarded to his side for their “sensational” first-half performance which saw the Bees go into the break at 0-0 after having some good possession and creating a couple of chances.

Describing United as “unbelievably lucky” in his post-match interview, Frank is understood to have likened his side to peak-Barcelona, comparing Jensen and Noergaard to a prime Iniesta and Xavi and suggesting Ivan Toney is the new Lionel Messi.

“Did you see us? We are first-half champions. Manchester United is a dead club.”

“Nostalgia FC at its finest who get lucky far too often – they deserve to be relegated” said Frank to Paddy Power News.

“I hope the Premier League do the correct thing and announce us as Premier League champions by the end of the day as we thoroughly deserved it from what we on in that first half. I think David De Gea made two saves and I am sure we probably had more possession. It was sensational stuff.”

Unsure if Frank was being completely serious about his side’s first-half performance, Paddy Power News spoke to his wife about his comments.

“Thomas likes to celebrate his half-birthday every year.

“He demands cards, presents and a cake six months from his actual birthday.

“He also has several certificates for the half-marathons he has completed framed and up on the living room wall. Anyone who visits gets the story of each.

“All his comments make complete sense to me, unfortunately,” she said.

Brentford play Wolves at home again on Saturday, with an open-top bus parade planned if they make it to half-time all-square or better.

Meanwhile, Man United interim manager Ralk Rangnick explained what upset Ronaldo as he was subbed off during the 3-1 win.

“He’d promised the kid in Block T, Row Z, seat 24, a game ball but hadn’t taken a free-kick at that end yet.”

“He was planning an extra-special hoof into the stands if we got anything within 30 yards of goal, with a ‘Siu’ celebration if the kid caught it.”
