Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is back in the ring for another swing ahead of Wednesday’s rescheduled Premier League games. We’ve got Leicester v Tottenham kicking things off at 7.30pm with both looking to make a push for European football.
WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!
At 8pm Brentford v Manchester United gets going in what looks like another potential banana skin for The Red Devils. So, without further ado, let’s see what Thommo thinks is going to happen in the to flight tonight.
7.30pm: Leicester v Tottenham
TV: BT Sport 2
Leicester have had quite a few games off and they would have felt really good after beating Liverpool on the 28th of December but then they’ve gone and beat Watford 4-1 in the FA Cup so things are going well for them.
I think Spurs felt like it was a good time to play Arsenal last Sunday with the problems that they had and the players that they had away. It wasn’t on, though. Will they feel refreshed?
Sometimes having too much rest, too much time to think, doesn’t help. I’ve been looking at the merits of both teams, and neither are totally convincing at the moment.
I was thinking, ‘I fancy Leicester, now I fancy Spurs.’ I’ve come down on this, I’m going for Desmond, I’m going for 2-2. But, get this, as a little bit of a Bet Builder, Both Teams To Score. I’ll also have Harry Kane to Score Anytime.
8pm: Brentford v Manchester United
TV: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, I listened to him after the Liverpool game and I thought Liverpool had been playing Real Madrid! He flagged them up to be something extra special and how well they played. Liverpool totally dominated the match.
I think this is a good chance for Manchester United to get back on the winning trail. They will hope they can replicate that first-half performance, certainly the first half an hour, against Aston Villa where everything started to click.
Villa really played well in the cup match, Manchester United had to come out on the front foot and they did do. I full expect Manchester United to Win this game. It’s a good opportunity for them.
I do think Both Teams to Score because, Manchester United defensively, you never actually feel safe with them. A slight win for Manchester United, I’m going to go 2-1.
I don’t think it’s been a great season for Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United fans would agree with me. But, he did get two goals, he will feel more confident from that.
You can bet your life he’ll be having a few more pot shots as well. He takes the penalty kicks because we’re not sure if Cristiano Ronaldo is fit and going to play so I’ll go with Bruno Fernandes to Score Anytime.
