La Liga returns this weekend after its short Christmas break with Sunday seeing the bulk of the fixtures. Here we’re taking a look at the three evening fixtures where strugglers Alaves are at home to Real Sociedad, third-placed Real Betis host Celta Figo and Mallorca entertain Barcelona. Let’s get into the stats then and find some value in the markets.

Alaves vs Real Sociedad – Both Teams to Score

5.30pm, La Liga TV

Alaves are in bad shape coming into this one. They’ve won none of their last five in all competitions and share the same record over their last five league games too. On home turf at the Estadio de Mendizorroza they’ve won two of their last five, drawing one and losing two, scoring and conceding five. Sociedad can halt their slide down the La Liga table here with a win and will be desperate to do so seeing as they’ve now gone five La Liga games without a win, drawing one and losing four. However, they did win their Europa League and Copa del Rey games sandwiched in between those losses.

Their away form in the league isn’t as bad as their overall form where they’ve won two of their last five on the road, drawing one and losing two, scoring six and conceding seven. The home side have scored in six of their nine home games this season while the visitors have scored at least one in seven of their nine on their travels. The best option here then is Both Teams to Score.

Betis vs Celta Vigo: Betis to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

5.30pm, La Liga TV

Betis have been in robust form of late, winning four of their last five in La Liga and they have the same record on home soil too. They’ve been in mighty goal-scoring form as well, finding the back of the net 14 times over their five most recent home league encounters, conceding six. Three of those games saw BTTS occurring, four of them saw Over 2.5 goals landing.

Celta Vigo have won two of their last five in the league, drawing two and losing one and on their league outings have also won two, drawn two and lost one over their last five. Overs was witnessed in two of those five and has landed in six of the last seven meetings between the pair at the Estadio Benito Villamarin with BTTS landing in all. With the home side in such strong home form and scoring goals aplenty we have to go with Betis to Win and Overs here.

Mallorca vs Barcelona: Barcelona to Win

8pm, La Liga TV

Mallorca have been struggling for goals at home this season, scoring just eight goals at the Son Moix Stadium and Over 2.5 goals has only been seen in two of their eight La Liga games played there. Barcelona’s league form had been improving up to the Christmas break, they’ve won two of their last five, drawing two and losing one.

Barca’s away form has seen them draw three, win one and lose one. They’ve been in decent goal-scoring form though, scoring nine over those five away games and also scoring nine over their last five in La Liga. We have to side with the Catalans here thanks to their superior goal-scoring form, especially with Mallorca struggling in front of the sticks.
