Bielsa’s ‘Squid Game’ training regime questioned as Leeds injuries mount

Red light... Green light

Leeds United players are ready to revolt in protest over coach Marcello Bielsa’s brutal Squid Game-like training regime.

Paddy Power News understands that several senior figures at Elland Road are concerned that the club’s physio room is filling up at such an alarming rate, that they will soon only have five fit players in their entire squad.

“He’s a f*****g madman,” one unnamed source told us, “When he first rocked up here he claimed he’d watched the movie Full Metal Jacket over 50 times, but since the release of Squid Games, Bielsa’s training drills have gone to a whole new level. It’s crippling the lads.”

Bielsa claimed that the 7-0 defeat at The Etihad this week against Manchester City was the worst of his managerial career and one of his senior players, who wishes to remain anonymous, wasn’t surprised by the heavy loss.

“He has us running from dawn to dusk and even if one of the lads has a slight knock, the gaffer refuses to listen and makes them join in with the session. If they refuse then he makes them stand by the corner flag in the buff for the entire session.”

“The other day we were running laps of the pitch and he was stood on the clubhouse balcony with an air-rifle taking pot-shots at us as we passed. The players are struggling to cope with these new methods.

“The ones that haven’t got sore arses are running on empty on matchdays.”

Paddy Power News tried to get a comment from the man whose nickname in Argentina is “El Loco” and although Bielsa was unavailable as he was reading everything he could find about season two of the hit Netflix series, one of his translators was prepared to come forward and totally make up that;

“Marcelo’s methods aren’t barbaric like you suggest, he just wants his players to have balls.

“He idolises guys like ex-SAS man Andy McNab and Seong Gi-Hun, star of Squid Game’s first series, who class pain as a state of mind.

“If he’s given the budget, these two will be arriving in January for sure.”

And the club has some other plans for the transfer window too.

“I can tell you for certain that some of our former players have been contacted” a club insider explained, “Marcelo wants lads you could take in the trenches with you like (David) Batty and (Mel) Sterland.

“Though, unfortunately for Leeds fans, the only ones who have shown any interest so far are Seth Johnson and Tomas Brolin,” we were told.
