When is the Champions League last 16 draw? Date, start time and qualified teams

The knockout rounds await...

Let’s be honest, the Champions League doesn’t really hit its stride until the knockout rounds – and the good news is we can almost touch the last 16!

The scramble for the remaining places reached a thrilling conclusion last week, and the Premier League’s four representatives are all through to the round of 16, although Chelsea had to settle for second place behind Juventus in Group H.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are, of course, the reigning champions after getting the better of Manchester City in last season’s final, but clubs still have some way to go before they can start dreaming of reaching this term’s showpiece at Saint Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena.

You’ll find all the key information you need to know about the Champions League last-16 draw below.

When is the Champions League last 16 draw?

The Champions League last-16 draw is scheduled for 11am on Monday, December 13 at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

What is the format for the Champions League last 16 draw?

The qualifiers for the last 16 will be split into seeded teams – the group winners – and unseeded teams – the runners-up. No team can be drawn against another from their group or country, which means the Premier League’s four representatives have a limited pool of potential opponents.

The eight seeded group winners also have home advantage in the return fixtures, which means the unseeded teams host the first legs.
