Die Meister! Die Besten Les grandes équipes! The champions! In a couple of months we’ll be hearing the banger that is the Champions League anthem on the reg as the competition hots up.

The round of 16 guarantees plenty of thrills and spills as the knockout format sorts out the men from the boys – and there is plenty of Premier League interest as all four English clubs progressed from their groups. We haven’t even got the games and there’s already been controversy as UEFA mucked up the draw.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The last-16 draw took place at 11am on Monday but a “technical problem” involving Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United resulted in the ties being declared void so the balls were plucked from the hat from a second time.

Last season’s Champions League winners Chelsea were sweating after failing to top their group, which meant they were unseeded. Thomas Tuchel and co. will no doubt be relieved after matching with Lille is both attempts at the draw.

Liverpool were handed a dream tie against RB Salzburg in the original draw and won’t be too concerned by the second draw spitting out a tie with Inter Milan.

Manchester City are up against Sporting Lisbon after initially being drawn against Villarreal, while Manchester United fans will also be thanking their lucky stars after swapping a two-legged tie with PSG for a match-up with Atletico Madrid.

It’s possible we could have an all-English final but there are plenty more miles to clock up on the road to the Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg, Russia. You’ll find all the Champions League last-16 fixtures, dates and Paddy Power’s odds below.
