Wolves face a tough trip to face Manchester City in Saturday’s early game but Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson thinks they’ll put up a good fight. Our captain is limbering up for another weekend of Premier League football and he’s bringing a barrage of best bets with him yet again.
HELLO FROM PADDY POWER NEWS!
City are smarting after a shock loss to RB Leipzig in the Champions League and Wolves could be in for a tough day as the champions look to bounce back in style. So, without further ado, it’s time for Thommo’s Manchester City v Wolves tips.
Saturday 12.30pm: Manchester City v Wolves
BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate
I don’t think this will be an easy win because City don’t have a striker. They play some wonderful football, we’ve seen that against Watford and the score line should have been more than the 3-1.
But they’re probably a little bit disappointed, getting beat in midweek by RB Leipzig. That ended their run of seven wins on the trot in all competitions, so that will be a bit disappointing for Pep.
They’ve won 11 of 14 Premier League matches so far, they’ve got 56 goals in all competitions this year. Get this, they have 17 different goal scorers in all competitions. They’re quite formidable.

They’ve got the joint-best defence in the Premier League with Chelsea on nine conceded. This is the thing that Wolves have got to worry about – they’ve faced just 101 shots, Manchester City.
Wolves are going to have to do something special because Wolves have only scored 12 goals. As we saw against Liverpool they had a couple of chances but they’re not taking them. Only Norwich have scored fewer than Wolves. They’ve not won and they’ve not scored in their last three Premier League games.
You can see where I’m going here. I do fancy City in this one. Maybe there’s not going to be a bagful of goals because Wolves defensively are not too bad, the three at the back seems to work for Bruno Lage.
I’m going for Manchester City to Win to Nil. There’s only going to be a couple of goals in this one, for me. If you want a goal scorer I think Riyad Mahrez will be back to take free kicks, penalties, things like that, so Riyad Mahrez to Score Anytime.
