We’ve finally managed to get Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson down from cloud nine in time for this weekend’s Premier League fixtures. The Kop idol was absolutely delighted with The Reds’ thumping 5-0 win over bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend.
Maybe it’s coincidence, but all of Paddy’s traders seem to be suddenly unavailable this weekend leaving Thommo to plough a lone tipping furrow. But feat not, he’s in fine fettle and has found four cracking bets for Liverpool against Brighton on Saturday.
It won’t be the goal fest that Liverpool have had recently, with both of their last two being 5-0 wins. Obviously I won’t need to tell too many people the last one but they beat Watford 5-0.
They’re the top scorers in the Premier League with 27 goals. They’re the only side who have scored in every Premier League game and we’re well into the season so that’s something. Six clean sheets out of nine so they’re looking good defensively as well.
But, Brighton, as we’ve seen, are sitting quite high up in the league. They’ve had no win in four Premier League games and that tells a little bit of a story because they’ve drawn three of them and they suffered their first defeat in six games against Manchester City (last week) losing that one 4-1.
I do fancy Liverpool to win this. Liverpool will still be hurting after that run of six games last year that Liverpool lost at home, Brighton were one of them and Liverpool won’t want to have that again. I’m going for Liverpool to Win this one. It’s not going to be a goal fest, Brighton are doing quite well.
I thought he was unfortunate not to play against Manchester United. Will he be fired up after what happened last week? I’m sure he will be and I’m sure he’ll be on that team sheet.
Football Tips: Phil Thompson’s 4 best Liverpool v Brighton punts include a 5/1 shout
Does Thommo think Brighton can stop Liverpool? Sorry, silly question.

Brighton have not been scoring a lot of goals but I do fancy Liverpool to Win to Nil again and Liverpool to Win 2-0. I think there’ll be some value in Sadio Mane to Score Anytime because everyone will be pumping for Mo Salah.
