Sunday 22:00 Austin FC v Houston Dynamo: Austin To Win And Both Teams To Score
Austin FC may be part owned by Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey, but their season has been anything but, ‘alright, alright, alright’. That’s because the club sits on the bottom of the Western Conference with only seven victories to their name all season and their fans have had to endure 19 disappointing defeats this year. It must be remembered that it is their first crack the league though, after they joined as an expansion team at the start of the campaign.
But, they’ll want to finish the season on a high, and what better way to do it than winning a Texas derby as the matches run out. They have reasons to be confident too, as Houston Dynamo come to town having not succeeded in an away game in 23 attempts. They may sit five points above Austin in the standings, but they won one less game than their hosts this term and went from the end of May to the middle of September without winning a single game!
Both of these sides have a habit of conceding goals, and only have one clean sheet apiece in their last seven games respectively. But, you can also almost guarantee goals when these sides meet, as the previous two games in this MLS season have featured a whopping eight goals between them.
Austin edged it 3-2 when the teams last went to battle at the Q2 Stadium back in August, and given the Dynamo’s woeful away form this season, we are just edging towards the home out to take this. However, it would be no shock at all to see both defences breached here.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Monday 00:30 Orlando City v New England Revolution: New England To Win And Both Teams To Score
New England are a whopping 20 points ahead of the Philadelphia Union in the MLS Eastern Conference standings going into this game following a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over DC United in midweek. That was their eighth win in their last nine away from home, a run that has seen them score 22 goals, and they’ve scored 14 times in their last five home or away – which means we should see them net at least once tonight.
They also haven’t seen many clean sheets recently. Their last came back at the beginning of September and that should give the playoff-chasing Orlando City some hope tonight. They’ve hit a decent run of form recently, going undefeated in four after a brutal run of games in September. Alexandre Pato made his first appearance since April last week, so that should increase their goal threat even if he is still trying to find match fitness.
Still, it’s hard to look past the rolling Revolution at the moment. They’ve netted at least three goals in their last three away games and Orlando’s recent revival, which has seen them lifted into the playoff spots, has come against a lot of the weaker sides. Both teams to score should be nailed on, with New England good enough on the road to edge it.
