Premier League leaders Chelsea will come into this game high on confidence after their 4-0 mauling of Malmo in the Champions League midweek, while Norwich are searching for their first win in seven games. The Blues are massive favourites here and could run riot for the second time this week. Norwich have only chalked up a single point on their league travels this season and are yet to score a goal. Against one of the stingiest defences in Europe that’s hardly going to change.
Bayern also lead their league, being a point above Borussia Dortmund in the pecking order. They’re in mighty good form, winning 11 of their 13 games this season in all competitions. Hoffenheim’s league position of 10th isn’t wonderful, but they’ve been great value for money in front of goal – scoring 17 over their eight league games and they’ve scored in all five of their most recent trips to the Allianz to face Bayern. Indeed, they scored at least two in three of those five.
Bayern were shock losers to Eintracht Frankfurt in their last home game and they’ll be eager to put that right here. Over their last two away games have scored a total of nine goals, that’s some going for any team.
Brighton’s strong start to the season is slipping, they’re winless over their last three games in the league and have only netted one goal over that period. City have had some incredibly tough games of late, they’ve beaten Chelsea and Brugge over their last five, Burnley too but that’s to be expected, losing to PSG and drawing with Liverpool.
They’ll be all too aware that the Seagulls are a tough nut on home soil, they’ve won three over their last five in all competitions at the Amex and beat City 3-2 here last season, largely thanks to City receiving a red card after just 10 minutes.
City have only kept two clean sheets over their seven away games this term, so the home side will be confident of getting their name on the scoresheet after drawing a blank in both of their most recent games. City are a level, or three, above though, and should take the three points.
Milan are still unbeaten in the Serie A this season, winning seven and drawing one of their eight games, scoring 18 and conceding seven. Bologna aren’t doing too badly, they’ve won three, drawn three and lost just two – scoring 13 and conceding 15. Their recent form has seen them winning just one of their last five though.
However, at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara they’re unbeaten this season, winning three and drawing one, scoring at least two goals in three of those four games. Milan have won three of their last five in all competitions. Meanwhile, away from home in the league they’re also unbeaten, winning three and drawing one.
With both teams in good goal-scoring form, we should see both scoring here. But, a draw is pretty unlikely, as of their combined 16 Serie A games only four have ended level.
Lille’s title defence is going pretty badly, they’re 10th in the league and winless over their last two games in all competitions. At home their form is strong though, they’re unbeaten over their last five in all competitions.
Brest are in bad shape, they’ve won none of their last 10 competitive matches and away from home have only collected two points from a possible 15 this season. Lille can bounce up to the European places with a win here and should get their season back on track. This one has a home win written all over it.
