Both Teams to Score
West Ham are in the superior form here, no doubt about that. The Hammers have won four of their last five overall fixtures in all competitions, scoring seven and conceding just three. However, at the London Stadium things aren’t as rosey where they’ve won just two of their last five, drawing one and losing two, scoring 10 and conceding seven. Indeed, of their last 10 home competitive fixtures they’ve only kept two clean sheets.
Genk’s form isn’t good, they’ve only won one of their last five, losing all of the other four. Looking at away games only, things are just slightly better where they’ve won two of their last five, losing the other three. They don’t easily go down without a fight though, of their nine away games this season they’ve scored in all but one and scored at least two in five of them. This won’t be an easy win for the Hammers, Genk have beaten Rapid Vienna in the Europa League already, gave Shakhtar Donetska a tough test in Champions League qualification and let’s not forget they were excellent against Liverpool two seasons ago at Anfield. Both Teams to Score is the first to make the list here.
Over 3.5 Goals
The goals have really been flowing in recent fixtures involving West Ham. Of their last five, four have seen Over 2.5 goals, two have seen Over 3.5. Both Teams to Score landing in four as well. Over 2.5 goals has also been seen in four of Genk’s last five games on their travels, Over 3.5 goals also being witnessed in two of their last five.
West Ham can really make a statement of intent here, should they make it three wins from three they’ll be pretty much booking their place in the next round. Genk though have no choice other than to go all out for the win as they desperately need the points. Both teams are in robust goal-scoring form, West Ham have 10 goals over their last five home games, Genk have seven over their last five, we have to go with goals then, Over 3.5 has the best value price.
Michail Antonio Anytime Assist
Michail Antonio has really had the proverbial bit between his teeth of late, the Jamaican international has five goals in seven Premier League appearances and one in two in the Europa League. He also has three assists in the PL and one in the EL.
We could have gone for him to Score Anytime here but the odds are dropping since they opened; the market is fully aware of his form of late and are backing him to get on the scoresheet. We’re preferring to go with the Anytime Assist price here as he’s been seeing plenty of the ball of late and his blistering pace and passes to other attacking players is going to be a huge factor against Genk here as time winds down.
Handicap Betting: West Ham -2
We’ve made a strong case for Both Teams to Score above so we should see Genk getting at least the one here. West Ham’s recent overall form though is impressive and while their home form isn’t quite so good they’ve seen off Everton, Leeds and most impressively, Manchester United over their last five games and should have plenty left in the tank to take all three points against a Genk side who are in rough enough shape.
With the Hammers in good goal-scoring form too and facing a side who are conceding goals like they’re going out of fashion they should be good for three here. West Ham -2 on the handicap market adds value here.
