The Champions League returns on Tuesday evening where Man City are in action against Belgian champions Brugge in one of the early kickoff slots at 17.45. City will be eager to put their recent defeat to PSG in Group A behind them with a victory here but the Belgians are in decent form, particularly at home where they’re undefeated over their last eight games. We’ve gone heavily into the stats and form here to find the three Best Bets, let’s have a gander at what we’ve found.

Tuesday 5:45pm: Club Brugge v Man City
BT Sport 2

Both Teams to Score and Man City to Win

Over their seven most recent home and away games, City have only kept three clean sheets. Looking at their six matches played away from home this season, they’ve only kept two. We should praise them for both of those performances though, keeping Leicester City and Chelsea quiet in their own backyards is pretty impressive.

Brugge have consistently shown over the years that they don’t fear any of the big names coming to the Jan Breydelstadion. Since the 2019/20 Champions League they’ve played nine home games, they were kept scoreless in just three of them, in that time they’ve held both PSG and Lazio to score-draws and lost 1-3 to Real Madrid.

City have had a tough run of games to late, beating Chelsea, losing to PSG, drawing with Liverpool and beating Burnley. Fair enough, keeping a clean sheet against Burnley is to be expected but even Wycombe scored against them in the League Cup and RB Leipzig put three past them in their opening CL match. Brugge have scored in all 12 of their most recent competitive home games and if they can score against PSG, Lazio, Real Madrid and Leipzig they’re certainly good enough to get one against City here.

However, they don’t have the quality of this City side, they’ll go all out but City are a class above and over the 90 minutes should have more than enough to take the three points. We’re getting a good value price here for both teams getting on the scoresheet and City to win.

Over 1.5 Second Half Man City Goals

City have been doing most of the grunt work in the second period of play this season. So far in the Premier League they’ve scored six first half goals but have netted 10 in the second half. Over their five most recent games in all competitions they scored four first-half goals and seven second-half goals.

Their five most recent away games have seen them actually scoring all of their goals after the break and over their last five away Champions League games they’ve only scored one in the opening period to five in the second. Again, we’re getting some pretty good value for this bet to land with all those stats to back us up.

Kevin De Bruyne to Score Anytime

Before leaving Belgium for England Kevin de Bruyne plied his trade at Gent and Genk. While he didn’t make any professional appearance for Gent, they’re his local team and was in their youth system for six seasons. Gent and Brugge don’t really get along, so much so that the matches between them are called the ‘Battle of Flanders’.

If anyone is going to be firing in shots from distance on Tuesday night it’s the Belgian, who already has four goals for club and country this season and has two over his last two games in a City shirt. We’re liking the look of him to get on the scoresheet here on his return to Belgium.
