After a thrilling return of Premier League action on Saturday and Sunday, Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is back to discuss Arsenal v Crystal Palace on Monday. He’s joined by our football trader Emmet O’Keeffe to try and decode the last game of the weekend. It’s north v south London but who will come out on top at the Emirates?
Mikel Arteta seems to have turned things around in recent weeks. They’ve only dropped two points in their last four Premier League games but scoring goals is their problem. Only Norwich have scored less than them.
Palace have been better than what they’ve shown but they’ve only picked up one point from their last three away games.
I’m not convinced by Arsenal under Arteta so I’m going to take a chance on Crystal Palace. In terms of Arsenal’s shape and tactics, it just doesn’t look right to me.
Arsenal were out-battled against Brighton before the international break and I expect more of that on Monday night.
Palace have done well to regenerate the team after losing so many players over the summer. They’re decent at the back and Conor Gallagher is lively in midfield and connects the midfield to the attack.
The guys to watch are Wilfried Zaha and Odsonne Edouard as they’ll be dangerous on the counter attack at the Emirates.
They give Palace a real threat and if they get a couple of chances, it could be enough. Palace are a good price and it’s worth getting behind them. I’m on Palace to Win.
