Newcastle and Tottenham have always been two of the stingiest teams in the Premier League but that’s all changed now as The Toon roll out the red carpet for their new mega-rich new Saudi overlords. It’s too early for them to splash the cash just yet and, with Steve Bruce still at the helm, the Magpies can expect the dire football to continue a little longer.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
One man who could never be accused of being a tight git, nor of flashing his extraordinary wealth, is Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson who teams up with our football trader Emmet O’Keeffe once again to shake down this game. So, with moneybags Newcastle hosting the penny-pinching Tottenham, who’s coming out on top?
Sunday 4.30pm: Newcastle v Tottenham
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
THOMMO: I think this is a really difficult one to call, guys. This is one of my Both Teams To Score bets, maybe a low-scoring draw. Spurs have only scored six goals this season, they’ve lost the last two away.
You look at Newcastle, what do they have? That new-owner bounce? They’re one of only four sides that haven’t had a victory this year so there’s not a lot to shout about for both of these sides.
Newcastle have conceded the most penalties so I am going for The Draw, a Score Draw, and Harry Kane to Score Anytime for Spurs, probably a penalty I would say.
EMMET: I think it’s a hard one to call. Newcastle have the worst xG defensively. Only Norwich and Watford have worse xG figures going forward than Tottenham, and only Norwich and Watford are creating less chances than Tottenham so these are two really out of form teams.
I’d look towards the goalscorer markets. I watched Harry Kane play for England during the week and he still didn’t look fully sharp to me so I think I’d go for Son Heung-min to Score First. That’s the way I’d go here.
