We’re back! After yet another tedious international break that saw the Republic of Ireland actually winning games and England providing a flat performance against Hungary with Harry Kane trying out life as a defensive midfielder. But forget about all of that, because the Premier League has returned, light the beacons of Gondor!
This weekend sees Liverpool head to Vicarage Road to take on Watford in what will be Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge of the Hornets. Liverpool will be looking to carry on their undefeated streak… even if half of them have been draws!
However, with Allison and Fabinho likely unavailable to play due to a late return from international duty, there could well be a start awaiting for Irish youngster Caoimhin Kelleher, who made his home debut for the boys in green (who were actually playing in blue) on Tuesday night. Let’s get to what we can get into a Bet Builder for this game.
Despite two draws in their last three games, I expect to see Liverpool come away with three points from this one. The Reds have graced us with some beautiful football this season, but they’re not quite Brentford, fortunately neither are Watford – expect Liverpool to get back to winning ways this weekend!
Fun fact, Liverpool haven’t been in a game with less than two goals scored this season. In fact, Liverpool themselves have scored three or more in six of their last seven games. This is far and away the most firepower that Watford have found themselves up against this season, however, Ranieri’s defensive system that relies on counter-attacking football could slow down the Reds. As such we’re taking the more conservative option of Over 2.5 Goals here.
Sarr has been a star so far for this Watford side and the Senegalese winger has four goals to his name this season. He’s also had 17 total shots, 10 of those being on target. He over-indexes on goals in relation to shots and shots on target – a perfect choice for our Bet Builder.
How could we possibly leave out the Egyptian King? After achieving the milestone of 100 Premier League goals, we’re expecting to see him finding the target on more than one occasion. He, like Mane, has 27 total shots on goal this season but has found the target on 12 occasions, scoring six times. Averaging just under two shots on target per game, it’d be rude not to!
Mane, oh Mane, another man who has had a rip-roaring start to the season, finding form again that we thought was lost after 2019. With four goals this season in seven appearances, he’s had 27 total shots, eight of which were on target, and he can find the net in this one.
As mentioned above, Ranieri’s style of management is focused on a strong defensive platform that feeds off of counter-attacking opportunities. With Peter Etebo out for the foreseeable future, Watford will be without a defensive midfielder adequately equipped in slowing the ball coming in to protect their backline. Someone will need to step up and put in the big tackles and Moussa Sissoko could end up with the task. As such, a booking could be in order for the Frenchman.
Liverpool to Win Over 2.5 Goals Ismaila Sarr to Have 1 or More Shots on Target Mohamed Salah to Have 2 or More Shots on Target Sadio Mane to Score Anytime Moussa Sissoko to be Shown a Card
