Chelsea To Win

Chelsea were dumped out of a group containing Juventus in the season after they won the 2012 Champions League, but those were very different circumstances. Then under the direction of Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea were incredibly lucky to win the Champions League in 2012, while Juventus were a coming force in European football.

Now, however, The Blues are indisputably one of the best teams in Europe, while Juve look more likely to be relegated than to win Serie A at the moment. Max Allegri’s return to Turin has not stimulated a return to former glory as hoped and The Old Lady now look a shell of the side that reached Champions League finals in 2015 and 2017.

They recorded a facile win over Malmo in their group opener, but have offered no evidence to believe that they are capable of beating a ruthlessly efficient Chelsea outfit.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have had an impressive start to the season and it seem certain they will challenge for both the Premier League and Champions League titles this year, so they should make relatively light work of a faltering Juventus outfit.

Both Teams To Score? No

It is almost always a safe bet to assume that Chelsea will not concede under Tuchel. Their defensive record since the German’s arrival in January has been staggering, keeping an incredible 24 clean sheets in 38 games.

They boast the second-best defensive record after Manchester City and have only conceded more than one goal on two occasions since Tuchel’s takeover. Juventus, meanwhile, look quite blunt in attack since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and will trouble to test this stubborn Chelsea defence, especially in the absence of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata.

Romelu Lukaku To Score Anytime

Romelu Lukaku has made an instant impact since returning to Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in all competitions to help Chelsea keep pace in the early days of the title race. He has not scored in two league games, however, and will hope to score against a side that he has struggled against historically. The big Belgian has only netted one penalty in six career appearances against Juventus, but he should fancy his chances against a defence that has conceded eight goals in its opening five league games.

Throughout his career, the striker has carried a sometimes warranted reputation that he does not perform in big games. However, he has been a changed player since swapping Manchester United for Inter Milan and should do plenty of damage against an ailing Juve on Wednesday night.

Timo Werner To Have An Anytime Assist

Timo Werner has picked up where he left off in terms of goalscoring form at Chelsea. The German forward has scored once in seven games in all competitions for the Blues and continues to look flustered and lacking in confidence in front of goal. Werner, however, does bring something to the table with his pace in behind and will cause Juventus problems if he’s given a chance.

He finished with more assists than any other Blues player in his maiden season at Stamford Bridge, grabbing 12 in all competitions. He has only recorded one assist so far this term, but clearly has the ability to set up his teammates and can do so again against a defensively fragile Juventus.
