Paddy Power’s football ambassador Phil Thompson laces up his boots and takes to the field once again to run the rule over Wednesday’s Champions League games. Today he’s joined by Brian McDonnell to unearth the best value as Chelsea head to Juventus.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The Blues suffered a disappointing defeat against Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend but Juventus have won just twice in Serie A all season. It feels like a straightforward away win, but what does our prestigious panel think?

Wednesday 8pm: Juventus v Chelsea

THOMMO

I do fancy Chelsea, I really do. I’ve been very impressed with them. I thought Thomas Tuchel, for the first time, got his team selection wrong against Manchester City. I thought he went too defensive with three across the back and five across the middle, sometimes it was five across the back.

It meant it was just Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku up front and they needed support. I think he got that wrong, I think he’ll be hurt by that and will be up for this. They only won 1-0 against Zenit St Petersburg at the Bridge last time out so they need to get back on the goal sheet.

But I do fancy them. Juventus beat Malmo quite comfortably in the first game but they’ll know this Chelsea team is a different proposition. I do see Chelsea winning this, I can see Both Teams to Score and get Romelu Lukaku in there to Score Anytime.

I’m thinking along the same lines at Thommo. I think Chelsea will win. Tuchel has made them very difficult to beat, that’s why it was such a surprise that they were so poor against Manchester City on Saturday. Hopefully it was a one-off.

I think they’ll get back to winning ways. Juventus have struggled this season with only two league wins out of six games. They’re already 10 points off Napoli at the top of the table. I’m actually going to go with Chelsea to Win to Nil.

Juventus are missing Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata who are both out with injuries. They’ve scored half of Juventus’ goals this season, no other player has scored more than one goal. I think they’re going to have Moise Kean leading the line. He might struggle up against Antonio Rudiger or Thiago Silva.

I think Chelsea will win 1-0 or 2-0. They’ll score first and look to blunt Juventus. I’m going to agree with Phil again, it has to be Romelu Lukaku to Score Anytime in the goalscorer markets. He’s the obvious one to look for in this one.
