Spurs face a tricky away trip to north-western France to take on Rennes in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday evening. Both sides have had inconsistent beginnings to their campaigns across the league and European competition, but both will expect to finish in the top two in Group G.

Rennes’ form in front of goal hasn’t been the best so far this season, they’ve netted just three goals over their six league games so far. On the brighter side of things though, they hit five over their two previous Conference League games, have scored two over their three home Ligue 1 matches and averaged 1.37 goals per home league game last season. Having gone two games on the bounce without finding the back of the net, they’re going to be eager to put that behind them and throw all they can at Spurs here.

Tottenham were clueless away to Crystal Palace last weekend, registering just a solitary shot on target for the entirety of the 90 minutes. However, they have got three goals over their four league games so far this campaign and averaged 1.74 per away Premier League match last season. French teams hosting English sides tend to be fiery affairs and we should see both teams getting on the scoresheet here.
Harry Kane to Score Anytime
Should Harry Kane start and we fancy him to get on the scoresheet here. Kane is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League this season, but the former-want-away striker has two in Spurs’ previous Conference League matches and scored eight in his eight Europa League games last season.
Of course, he won the Premier League Golden Boot last season too, netting 23 over 35 appearances and quite frankly, getting an over Evens price on Kane to Score Anytime is just too good to turn our noses up at considering those records.
Spurs to Win
Rennes are a decent enough side and only lost six of their 19 home league games last season. However, they’ve lost both of their most recent matches and failed to score in both of them.
That should egg them on to get at least one here against a Spurs’ side that somehow managed to concede three at the weekend against a Crystal Palace outfit who had only scored two goals over their four prior games this season.
Spurs are the stronger side here though, and while Spurs’ manager Nuno Santo will have an eye on Chelsea at the weekend, he’ll want to get the Group Stage off to the best possible start and should name a strong starting XI.
Rennes have only won two of their four games at home this season in all competitions, while Spurs have won three of their last four and beat Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening weekend. Spurs should have enough to take the three points on offer here.

Tottenham will be eager to get the loss to Crystal Palace out of their system, while Rennes will also be out to get back to winning ways after two defeats. There’s also the added needle of France v England here, but Spurs have the better squad by far and apart from that loss to Palace and an earlier hiccup in the Conference League, Spurs have shown so far this term that they mean business under their new manager. We’re liking the look of Spurs to win 1-3 here.
