There’s a real buzz about United with Ronaldo back and it could be a case of men against boys – Young Boys, in fact – in the Champions League on Tuesday night, despite the Swiss side’s plastic pitch.

THOMMO

This’ll be a massive game in Switzerland and you can’t see beyond United really – and I think the markets will show that.

Young Boys are fourth in Switzerland, on eight points and have a game in hand on leaders Zurich, who have 13 points., so they’re not bad. David Wagner, who we know about from getting Huddersfield into the Premier League is in charge, but everyone knows how good United are now.

This is a banker for me. It’s a question of where do you pitch the United win at, pardon the pun.

I’d be looking at United to keep a clean sheet and would fancy 2-0 in the Correct Score market.

I’d look at Bruno Fernandes to score. They’ll have a lot of the ball, and as we saw at the weekend he has a magnificent strike and I can see them needing something like that from outside the box. And he has been on penalties – will he take them now Ronaldo’s back, we’ll see, but that’s a factor as well.

United should win but the price on that is too short for me – the last time they played here they were 8/11 and did the business 3-0, they’re much shorter this time. I’d rather be on Over 2.5 goals if you’re looking for something.

As for David Wagner, he did an incredible job at Huddersfield – they came up with a negative goal difference, which was remarkable – but since then he’s been to Schalke which was a disaster, and it’s not started too well here either. They’re foruth in the league now, but they won it by 31 points last season, their fourth title in a row, so this ranks as a slow start by those standards.

I don’t think they’re in a position to cause an upset. I’d look at the 3-0 again in the correct score market, or possibly 3-1 having seen how Newcastle broke on them at the weekend.

I’d also wait to see the starting line-up for a goalscorer. If Ronaldo’s not playing – they’ve a big game at West Ham on the weekend, Ole will have to be smart with how how uses Ronaldo – I’d look at who replaces him at centre forward.

If Mason Greenwood gets the nod I’d look at him to score first.
