Football Tips: 16/1 acca for Friday night's games from across the continent

Friday night sees the return of football in France and England following the international break. In this article we’ll be taking a look at the Championship clash between Birmingham City and Derby County and a Ligue 1 match between Lorient and champions Lille.

We’ll also be taking a look at two Irish Premier Division matches were league leaders Shamrock Rovers host Waterford and the second and third placed teams also clash – Sligo Rovers vs St Patrick’s Athletic.

7.45pm: Sligo Rovers vs St Patrick’s: Both Teams to Score

Sligo Rovers have to go all out for the win here with St Pat’s and Shamrock Rovers both on fifty points. Sligo are 11 behind. There are still plenty of games to go but should they lose this they might find it too difficult to get into the battle for the top spot as the season enters the final stages.

Sligo have lost four of their last five league games, drawing the other one while St Pat’s have won three and lost two of their last five. Away from home though St Pat’s have only won one of their last five, drawing one and losing three but scored nine goals over those five games. Sligo have won two of their last five at home, losing the other three, scoring in all but one. Formwise this one is tough to call but with both teams in decent goal-scoring form we’re going with Both Teams To Score.

8pm: Birmingham vs Derby: Under 2.5 Goals

Birmingham City have won two, drawn two and lost one of their five Championship games so far with Derby County winning one, drawing three and losing one. Birmingham have a terrible record at home to Derby. Over their five most recent meetings since 2017, the home side have lost four and drawn one.

Over 2.5 goals landed in all five of those clashes with BTTS occurring in three. Birmingham have played four home games in all competitions this season, scoring just one goal, over Derby’s three away games they’ve scored three. We have to go with the form here and this one could well be an endurance test even for the diehards. We’re going with Under 2.5 Goals here.

8pm: Lorient vs Lille: BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals

Lille’s title defence hasn’t exactly begun very well. So far they’ve won one, drawn two and lost one. Lorient share the same record. The sides have only met three times since 2017 with Lorient winning one and Little winning two. Lorient’s home form is very good, they’ve won all five of their most recent home Ligue 1 matches while Lille’s away record has seen them winning three of their last five, drawing the other two.

Both have scored five and six goals respectively this season and have conceded 15 between them. Both Teams to Score looks good here but we should add that Lorient only drew two home games in the league last season while Lille only drew four on their travels. We should see a winner then so we’re backing Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals for this one.

8pm: Shamrock Rovers vs Waterford: Both Teams to Score

With St Pat’s even on 50 points with Shamrock Rovers, the home side will be eager to get a few more goals here to add to their superior goal difference. Rovers also have two games in hand over their Dublin rivals but they will be confident here as they’ve beaten Waterford at home in all five of their most recent clashes at Tallaght Stadium.

Rovers have won three of their last five at home, drawing the other two and have scored nine and conceded in four of those five matches. Waterford have won three of their last five on the road in the league, losing the other two and scored six in four of those five matches. Rovers are massive favourites here but Waterford’s form has been improving and they’ve scored 11 over their last five home/away games. There’s some good value to be had in backing Both Teams to Score here.
