Football Tips: Alan Cawley’s Irish FAI Cup best bets for a bumper weekend

The SSE Airtricity League takes a break this weekend as the Irish FAI Cup takes centre stage with a host of games across the weekend. There’s some mouth-watering clashes with big boys looking to avoid an upset against the pesky little upstarts.

Our Irish expert, Mr League of Ireland himself, Alan Cawley is perfectly placed to give us the low down on these ties as he actually did the draw! Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers fans might not be best pleased with Alan but he thinks whoever wins that tie will be in prime position to go on and lift the trophy.

Cork and St Pats kick us off on Friday night at 7.45pm before Finn Harps make the short trip to take on Derry City at 8pm. Then it’s all eyes on the big one on Saturday as Shamrock Rovers take on Dublin rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
