12.30pm: Union St Gilloise v Club Brugge – Brugge to Win

Last season’s Belgian champions Club Brugge take on the newly-promoted Union St Gilloise on Sunday in what looks a fairly straightforward affair on paper. However, the new boys pulled off a surprise 3-1 win over Pro League giants Anderlecht in their opener.

Brugge, on the other hand, could only manage a 2-2 draw with Eupen in their first game of the 2021/22 campaign. Union’s surprise win last time out is giving the champions’ price a boost here and we’re expecting the visitors to have too much despite their hosts’ strong showing last weekend. Brugge to Win kicks us off on Sunday.

1pm: Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield – Draw

We’ve got the rather bizarre situation here where Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield kick off their competitive campaigns a week earlier than most with an EFL Cup clash. The Owls slumped into League One last season, courtesy of a 24-th placed finish in The Championship, while Huddersfield could only manage 20th in the second tier.

Neither side has looked particularly good in pre season and yes, I know it is only pre season, but it’s all we have to go off in terms of this contest. Under 2.5 Goals has landed the last nine times these two have met and I don’t think we’re in for a goal fest at all.

It’s normally pretty tight between the Yorkshire rivals, with four draws in their last six games. I can’t separate these two and will happily put up The Draw in 90 minutes as your best bet here.

3pm: Aberdeen v Dundee United – Dundee Utd and Draw

Aberdeen kick off their Premiership campaign at home to last season’s 9th-placed team, Dundee United. The Dons themselves finished 4th, seven points adrift of Hibs in 3rd. While there was a 12-point gap and five places between them, that doesn’t begin to tell the story of these two’s meetings last season.

United put up a good show against Aberdeen, beating them twice and drawing the other two meetings with one of those wins coming in the Cup. Aberdeen failed to net against United in four attempts against the then newly-promoted side. With all this in mind we’re getting great value on the Dundee United and Draw Double Chance.

11pm: Philadelphia v Chicago Fire – Philadelphia to Win

Philadelphia Union host Chicago Fire looking to take another step towards the post-season playoffs in MLS. The Union are 5th in the Eastern Conference while Chicago are way down in 13th and are only kept off bottom spot by Phil Neville’s Inter Miami.

Union have been a bit hit and miss recently, but Fire have only won three games all season. With home advantage and the better overall form, we’re plumping with Philadelphia Union to Win to round off our Sunday football acca.
