For Wednesday night’s European action we’ll be taking a look at some of the big names in action for the second leg of their Champions League qualification matches. Danish champions Midtjylland face Celtic after their 1-1 first leg game and we’ll also be looking at Swiss league winners Young Boys at home to Slovakian champs Slovan Bratislava.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Serbian side Crvena Zvezda (formally Red Star) face Kazakhstani champions Kairat Almaty following their 1-2 loss last week and finally Sparta Prague take on Austrian Bundesliga winners Rapid Vienna and trail 1-2 on aggregate. Let’s have a look at where we’ve found some value in the betting markets.

The below picks in a Paddy Power acca will give you odds of around 19/1. CLICK HERE TO ADD IT TO YOUR BETSLIP.

6.45pm: Midtjylland vs Celtic: Midtjylland to Win

While the market was on Celtic’s side for last week’s first leg the Danish side were able to come from 1-0 down in the second half. The market has them as slight favourites for the return leg but the big problem for both teams here is that neither side have many competitive games under their belts. Midtjylland have three competitive matches while Celtic have only played one Champions League match. They’ve also drawn 0-0 with Bristol City and lost 0-1 and 2-6 to Preston North End and West Ham in their three latest friendlies.

Midtjylland are a strong side on their own turf, scoring in all but one of their last 10 at home and have scored at least three goals in five of those 10. Celtic have either lost or drawn all of their last six competitive away games, scoring just two goals over those six games. This looks like a match too early for Celtic, having lost by one to Preston and by four goals to West Ham at the weekend, albeit in friendlies, just goes to show they’re not a team good enough for high level football, as we saw in last season’s embarrassingly bad Europa League campaign, Midtjylland to Win is the value price here, sorry Celtic fans.

7.15pm: Young Boys vs Slovan Bratislava: BTTS No Draw

Young Boys are massive favourites here but they could only manage a 0-0 draw in last week’s first leg. Much like the above match, Young Boys have played very few competitive matches so far, just two, while Slovan have four, three of which were in the Champions League. Last week’s match saw both sides coming close but the goalkeepers were able to keep things level.

Young Boys are pretty good at home, winning eight of their last 10, scoring at least two in all of those wins. Slovan lost their away leg game to Shamrock Rovers in the last round but have only lost one other of their last 10 away competitive matches. Slovan have scored in all but two of their last 10 on the road and we’re liking the look of BTTS No Draw here.

7.30pm: Crvena Zvezda vs Kairat Almaty: Both Teams to Score

Crvena Zvezda were shock 1-2 losers last week having been favourites in the away leg. Like Young Boys above they’re favourites here and, as Serbian champions, are obviously in decent nick on home turf. However, this will be only their fourth match of the season to Almaty’s 25th. They were deserving of their win last week and Crvena Zvezda only scored via an own goal as well.

The home side have to go for it here being a goal behind on aggregate while Almaty have scored in 10 of their last 12 away games in all competitive matches. BTTS odds are too good to refuse.

7.30pm: Sparta Prague vs Rapid Vienna: Over 2.5 Goals

Sparta Prague also trail 1-2 on aggregate here and are home favourites against Austrian champions Rapid Vienna. Both teams have just two games to their names so far this season, both winning one and losing one. There’s plenty of goals in both of these teams, Sparta have scored 28 goals over their last eight home competitive matches while Rapid have netted 16 over their eight on their travels.

Overs has landed in seven of Sparta’s last eight home games and has landed in four of Rapid’s last eight on the road. The odds aren’t massive here but they’ll give our four-legged acca a nice wee boost especially for a game that should see goals.
