Football Tips: A fab 15/1 acca for Friday’s Gold Cup action featuring USA & Jamaica

We’re into the second round of group games in the CONCACA Gold Cup and we’ve rustled up a nice acca for Thursday and Friday night’s matches with some of the big hitters in action.

Canada and USA feature in Thursday night/Friday morning’s clashes while Jamaica and Costa Rica take centre stage in Friday’s late games. All four of those named are big favourites to win their respective games, with the latter three being four of the competition’s highest-ranked teams, but can we find some value? There’s always some in there somewhere!

Friday 12.30am: Haiti v Canada – Under 2.5 Goals

Canada walloped Martinique 4-1 in their opening Gold Cup 2021 Group B match but they’ll find it much toucher against a stubborn Haiti side here. Haiti only went down 1-0 to the mighty USA in their opening game and will be looking to keep it tight again here.

They need to shock Canada to make it through to the next round, with the soft-looking Martinique rounding off their group stage. They know a win will give them a great chance. They only lost to the Americans by a solitary goal and, with Canada’s big win pumping up the price here, the value is definitely with backing Haiti’s defence and Under 2.5 Goals.

Friday 3am: Martinique v USA – USA (-3)

Anything other than a huge USA win here would be a big shock and Paddy’s odds emphatically reflect this. Surprisingly, the last time these two met ended in a narrow 3-2 win for the States, but we’re expecting a much bigger score line here.

The USMNT are markedly better than the Canadians who thumped Martinique in the opener. While Gregg Berhalter’s side were a bit stodgy against Haiti, the tough 90 mins will have done them good. I’m expecting an end of term vibe here and, with value hard to find, I’m plumping for USA (-3) on the handicap.

Friday 11.30pm: Guadeloupe v Jamaica – Jamaica (-1)

Jamaica will be expecting to secure qualification to the quarter finals with a win over Guadeloupe on Friday night after seeing off Suriname 2-0 in their opener. Guadeloupe went down 3-1 to Costa Rica in their first game and will have a decent chance of progression if they can beat the 3rd-highest ranked team in the Gold Cup.

However it doesn’t seem a likely prospect. Jamaica have some decent players and should triumph over a squad made up mostly of amateurs with ease. I’m backing the Reggae Boyz to beat the (-1) alternative handicap.

Saturday 1.30am: Suriname v Costa Rica – Costa Rica & Over 2.5 Goals

Suriname put up a good fight against Jamaica in their maiden Gold Cup appearance and will be buoyed by their performance, but they could come away with nothing again against Costa Rica. Suriname realistically need a win if they are to progress – something they have never achieved against Los Ticos in five attempts.

They created plenty of chances against the Reggae Boyz and could get on the scoresheet here but their defensive frailties were plain to see. Los Ticos should be too strong and we’re backing Costa Rica to Win and Over 2.5 Goals.
