England Euro 2021 Squad announced as Trent Alexander-Arnold makes cut

An unlucky group of seven have been chopped from the England squad.

Gareth Southgate’s got his chopper out and axed seven players from England’s provisional squad for this summer’s European Championship.

The Three Lions boss finally put an end to the guessing game by revealing his 26-man party which sees Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Ben Godfrey, James Ward-Prowse, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood and Ollie Watkins left at home.

Southgate has avoided the wrath of Liverpool fans – and pretty much anyone who watches football – by including Trent Alexander-Arnold. It means England take FOUR right-backs to the tournament with Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Reece James also making the cut. Cue Twitter being bombarded with the ‘Four naan, Jeremy? Four? That’s insane’ meme.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

On the other hands, Southampton’s Ward-Prowse can feel disappointed to miss out having made history by playing every minute of the last two Premier League seasons. At least he’ll get a well-earned break this summer.

Does Southgate have a squad capable of bringing the trophy home? We’ll find out in the coming weeks but punters are confident, with Paddy making England the 4/1 favourites to win the whole thing.

You might want to mentally prepare yourself to start hearing ‘Three Lions’ on repeat…
