Peter Crouch is back in Paddy Power’s new Euro 2020 ad

He's a natural performer. that lad

After five years, the Euros are finally here and we think it’s time to celebrate. I’ve got Peter Crouch leading a cast of colourful characters in our new TV ad where the former England striker shows off his German skills and get called a ‘beanpole’ by an unhappy football fan.

And it also helps kicks off our Euro 2020 ‘Switch for Better’ campaign, where I’m offering new customers a free £5 bet on every England group game.

Who better than the well-travelled goalscorer to show the benefits of switching around – after all, good deals only come to those who move about, and there’s a bunch of fans here wearing a shirt of each of Crouchy’s clubs, just to drive home the point.

Let me see, there was Spurs, QPR, Pompey, Villa, Liverpool, Spurs again… and I think that’s only half of them.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

And there’s a nod to upgrading at international level as Peter walks past Declan’s Bar, which may or may not be linked to the switched national allegiance of a certain West Ham midfielder…

Before he wraps a German fan in an England flag and utters “Es kommt nach Hause” – German for “It’s coming home”.

Celebrating with a crowd of England supporters, the final message from the former Liverpool and Tottenham man is that “If the grass looks greener… go and play on it”.

Naturally, Peter Crouch is always a joy to work with, and we can’t be too surprised that a bicycle-kicking, robot-dancing star is a natural in front of the camera.

He might just be a better actor than footballer, you know.

And, as Crouchy says in the ad, there’s a lot to be gained from switching for better – when Declan Rice ends up winning the Euros, it’ll pain me to say he was right.

Paddy Power is encouraging punters to change bookmaker as part of its ‘Switch for Better’ campaign, where new customers will secure a free £5 Bet Builder for every England group game.
