Not the most exciting start to the bet builder but it’s hard see beyond a Liverpool victory. Sam Allardyce has had success in the past in frustrating Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp as we saw just after Christmas at Anfield with a late Semi Ajayi goal enough for West Brom to nick a 1-1 draw.
In fact it was that result that began Liverpool’s slide from title favourites to starring into the relative abyss otherwise known as the Europa League qualification places. However, finally Liverpool’s luck may have started to turn after a season full of serious injuries and missed chances.
Thiago Alacantara may have been overstating it when he said that the Reds required a ‘small miracle’ to qualify for the Champions League after last week’s win over Southampton but Arsenal beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge In midweek was certainly far from expected.
Now Liverpool only need to beat West Brom, Burnley and Crystal Palace to be guaranteed Champions League qualification and I don’t expect them to slip up here. West Brom are unlikely to produce such an obdurate performance with their Championship fate sealed for next season and the away side should finish a great week with a relatively straightforward Liverpool Win.
Sunday 4.30pm: West Brom v Liverpool Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
Outside of Virgil Van Dijk, the injury that has affected the Liverpool the most this season was Diogo Jota’s near three-month absence after picking up a knee injury in a meaningless Champions League group stage match with Midtjylland. Jota has looked like one of the best strikers in the Premier League every time he has worn a Liverpool shirt and is reflected by him having a better goals per minute ratio than Mo Salah despite Salah being tied for the Premier League golden boot with Harry Kane. The price on Jota to Score Anytime looks more than fair on him to find the net on Sunday.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will be in a confident mood after one of the best performances of his young career against Manchester United and should get plenty to chances for him to bomb forward and have one or more shots on target in a match that Liverpool should dominate.
Conor Gallagher has now reached double figures in cards accumulated this season and can hopefully be relied on for a rash tackle or two resulting in a booking in a match where West Brom won’t see much of the ball.
