Following 48 hours of footballing anarchy, some good news has emerged for Spurs fans in that their captain and talisman, Harry Kane, has decided to commit his future to the club.
Despite no official announcement from the Tottenham camp, Kane is believed to be “absolutely delighted” with his side’s qualification for the European Super League suggesting it “matches his ambition of playing at the top-level”.
“He’s like a kid on Christmas morning at the moment” an anonymous source told Paddy Power News.
“Apparently, he was up at 4am dressed in his full kit and boots, desperate to get to training and practice his shooting, which he hasn’t been allowed to do for almost two years. His Mrs had to usher him back to the bedroom for a couple more hours.
“To think that on Saturday he was nursing an ankle injury, facing another year in the Europa League, contemplating a move to Manchester. Now all of the big games have just dropped on his lap without his club doing a single thing over the last 15 years to deserve them.”
Despite life being a bit of a mess at Spurs, having seen the club part ways with Jose Mourinho less than a week before the Carabao Cup final, Kane is understood to be “optimistic” about his future.
“I’m not convinced Kane fully understands what’s going on” continued the source.
“Yes, he will be playing against the likes of Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on a regular basis, but what he probably hasn’t quite got his head around at this stage is his side are going to get spanked week in week out, and never offered the relief of relegation, or a cup game against mediocre opposition to take his mind off of the thrashings.
“It seems like Daniel Levy has blagged Tottenham into an elite competition without truly thinking through the consequences. Maybe that’s why Jose was seen running down the A10 screaming get me out of here at the top of his voice.”
