17.30: Huddersfield vs Bournemouth – Bournemouth to Win

Bournemouth appear to have rediscovered their form at just the right time following a wretched start to 2021 and they now appear to be in pole position to secure a place in the play-offs.

Jonathan Woodgate has done a decent job since taking the reins earlier in the year and the Cherries have catapulted themselves into the top six after a run of four wins and a draw from their last five games.

Huddersfield, on the other hand, could do with three points to arrest their downward momentum. The Terriers have won just one of their last nine games and were recently trounced 7-0 by champions-elect Norwich.

They are still in danger of being dragged into a relegation dogfight and three points on Tuesday night would be welcomed. However, their recent form suggests that they are not capable of beating an in-form Bournemouth intent on making an instant return to the Premier League.

18.00: Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea – Sheffield Wednesday to Win

Swansea bounced back from a run of four straight defeats with an impressive 3-0 win at Millwall, but it probably wasn’t enough to save their slim hopes of finishing in the automatic promotion places.  The Swans are currently 10 points behind second-placed Watford and probably don’t have enough time to chip away at that deficit, even with a game in hand.

Their form has simply not been good enough since their win over runaway league leaders Norwich in February and they seem destined for another play-off campaign next month. They must beat Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday if they are to keep their faint automatic promotion hopes alive, but they face a team in desperate need of three points to help save their Championship lives.

Wednesday currently lie six points from safety and will almost certainly be relegated if they fail to beat Swansea on Tuesday. However, Wednesday have recorded impressive victories over Cardiff and Barnsley in their last four games and will hope to take another three points from a side at the top end of the Championship table when they take on Swansea.

Swansea, who have lost to four bottom-half sides in their last 12 games, may come unstuck again at Hillsborough.

19.00: Rotherham v QPR – QPR to Win

Rotherham play their second of five games in a gruelling 10-day spell and they simply don’t have the squad to cope with such an arduous calendar. Paul Warne’s side desperately need to start turning their four games in hand into points on the board, but there will certainly be an element of picking their battles.

They face relegation rivals Coventry just 48 hours after their meeting with QPR on Tuesday and it would be far more disastrous if they were to lose that ‘six-pointer’. Meanwhile, they take on a Birmingham side that are not fully out of the relegation picture just yet, despite showing excellent form over the past two weeks.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Rotherham had one eye on that clash with Coventry on Thursday and an in-form QPR are well-placed to capitalise. Mark Warburton’s side have taken 16 points from their last 24 and can jump into the top 10 with a win on Tuesday night.

They are rightly considered favourites against a Rotherham side that has lost five consecutive home games and failed to score in their last three league games.

19.00: Blackpool vs Accrington Stanley – Blackpool to Win

Blackpool let a two-goal lead slip at fellow play-off chasers Lincoln on Saturday in a damaging draw that makes them look nervously over their shoulder at the chasing pack below them and they could really do with three points on Tuesday to make their lives that bit more comfortable.

They are still in pole position to make the play-offs but defeat to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday would sew seeds of doubt with just seven games remaining. However, they should have little problems overcoming an Accrington side that has been in freefall for over a month.

Stanley have lost five of their last eight games as their own play-off ambitions disappeared in a cloud of smoke, while they most recently suffered inexcusable humiliation when they were hammered 5-1 by relegation-threatened Wimbledon. They have also been beaten 7-0 by Peterborough in recent weeks and their season seems to be petering out.

Blackpool cannot afford to drop points against them on Tuesday.
