NEW TO PADDY POWER?
12:30 – Man City v Leeds
BT Sport 1
Leeds’ form since the turn of the year hasn’t been what we’d expected but they’ll still be happy with their season. They’re safe and they’ve entertained.
They need to be better defensively and could do with a couple of new centre-halves as they aren’t really capable of defending set-pieces. They’ve have won their last two but faced Sheffield United and Fulham so they were expected to pick up the six points.
And what can you say about City? They’ve won 27 of their last 28 and they only need 11 points to win the title. They are top scorers in the Premier League with 66 but they also have the best defensive record too. I fully expect City to continue their fine form against Leeds on Saturday afternoon.
15:00 – Liverpool v Aston Villa
Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League
Liverpool will want revenge big time. All I can think of heading into this one is the 7-2 at Villa Park earlier this season. If that doesn’t anger any Liverpool player I don’t know what will!
The Reds are 34 points worse off than this time last season which is terrible. They’ve won their last two in the Premier League but the slip up against Real Madrid in the Champions League won’t help.
Before winning their last two in the league, Liverpool had lost six of seven games which simply isn’t good enough. Six defeats on the bounce at home doesn’t sound good at all but because it’s Villa coming to Anfield, I think they will be ready and I fancy Liverpool to win.
17:30 – Crystal Palace v Chelsea
Sky Sports Main Event/Sky Sports Premier League
Even when Thiago Silva got sent off against West Brom last week, I still thought they’d have enough to beat the Baggies. They’re usually solid defensively and they were at home, so I still thought they’d have enough but obviously not. It was astonishing that they shipped five goals.
But the way they bounced back from that 5-1 beating last Saturday against Porto in the Champions League was incredible. Chelsea have the best defence alongside Manchester City and they’re the best at set plays. The Blues have scored 18 goals in the Premier League from dead-ball situations.
Palace will have their work cut out but they’re not on a bad run themselves. They’ve lost just one of their last six in the Premier League. They’ve kept clean sheets at home recently but it’s a tall order for Palace, especially after Chelsea bounced back in the Champions League.
Chelsea should have enough to beat Palace but I think Roy Hodgson’s men might score.
Thommo’s Saturday treble:
I fancy Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea all to win on Saturday. I expect the three big boys to have too much for their opponents.
