20:00: Real Madrid v Barcelona – Real Madrid to Win
We’ve an absolute cracker this weekend with El Classico. Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions, have won their last five on the trot and dismantled Liverpool with relative ease in the Champions League in midweek.
Zinedine Zidane still probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves for the job that he is doing but he has a chance to deliver a massive psychological blow to both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in terms of the title race with a win here. I expect Vinicius Jr to continue where he left off against the Merseysiders and be a real thorn in Barca’s side.
New to Paddy Power?
A tight game is expected and here’s hoping we get the goals that this contest deserves. The Catalans have won seven of their last 10 games only losing once and that was to PSG in Europe. Koeman’s men are in good form themselves and confidence will be high after their 1-0 win on Wednesday night against Valladolid, which was their third La Liga win on the trot.
For me, the midfield of Casemiro and the two wise foxes Toni Kroos and Luka Modric showed their worth once again against Liverpool in midweek. The trio have won four European Cups for Real and look not to be done yet. I see them winning the midfield battle giving the home side the platform to just edge it.
19:45: Udinese v Torino – Torino to Win
This game sees 12th in Serie A host struggling Torino, who lie in 17th. Udinese have lost back to back games in recent weeks at the hands of both Lazio and Atalanta while the visitors were unlucky to concede late on to a Cristiano Ronaldo equaliser in their Turin derby with Juventus last weekend.
Last month we also saw Torino go toe-to-toe with league leaders Inter Milan and were unlucky to come out the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline. There has been lots to like about some of their performances of late and I think Udinese, who have one win in their last four games, are vulnerable favourites against this Torino side fighting for survival.
Torino’s main man up top, Andrea Belotti, got amongst the goals for the Azzurri against Bulgaria last week which may spark a run of goals for him in Serie A. Udinese did win the reverse fixture earlier in the season 3-2 but I fancy Torino quite strongly to reverse the form.
20:00: Montpellier v Marseille – Montpellier to Win
Montpellier are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions and host a Marseille side who have been dreadful on their travels all season. A not at full strength Montpellier just about saw off a plucky Chateaubriant by a goal to nil in their midweek French cup tie to book a place in the quarter-finals.
The home-side look to be good value at home of late and have picked up 10 from a possible 12 on offer at the Stade de la Mosson. Another stat of interest is the fact that no other team has managed to stop Montpellier from scoring in their last eight home games. Marseille come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Dijon last Sunday.
But the most alarming fact for the visitors is that they are currently on a nine game winless run on their travels. They have also failed to score in three of their last four games on the road. For me they look like vulnerable favourites and I have gone with Montpellier to see off Les Olympiens to get the treble over the line.
Saturday Euro treble summary:
